Anybody have a clue what this could be? No markings anywhere.

Body alone weighs 6.1 lbs. 9.8 lbs total!

Solid wood. Looks like ash with deep and pronounced grain. You can see the grain through body in the trem cavity.

I like it.., could be a real player with the right goodies

  5. A few changes over the years … numerous tuner screw holes indicate that. Pronounced wood grain on the body … humm? Large headstock bullet truss rod … plenty of Japanese doing Stratocaster copies back then. THAT, is what brought about Squier (by Fender) branded guitars.

    Cheers, Barrie.

Yeah, the e tuner had been replaced at least once. But that body is a hunk! The guitar is heavier than my Pilsen Idol

Ash body,, decent tuners,, solid bridge,, worth a few bucks.. Don't think its SQ though.. But still make a nice player if the neck Is decent.. What's up with the skunk stripe?.. Looks like its been opened up..o_O

I had a mystery partscaster with an Ash body, that weighed a TON. It had grain just like that one. It sounded pretty good, though. I’ve had a couple late 70’s/early 80’s Strat copies, but none of them had “open” grain like that. It’s possible that’s a Schecter/Dimarzio/“Boogie Bodies” or other parts supplier body. I had a 70’s Dimarzio catalog, and besides the 4 kinds of pickups they listed, you could buy a Strat or Tele body, or necks for both along with electronic parts... Again, I never saw a factory made body back then that wasn’t grain-filled and sealed already.
