A guy in Dixon, CA gave his wife a gym membership for their anniversary and then bought himself a new Strat. Somehow it ended up in their front garden, headstock first and he was forbidden to touch it. I got a heck of a deal. I cleaned her up, swapped the nut, pickguard and pickups and got some new knobs.
Currently running 7-38 strings with .006" relief measured @ fret 8.

    Nice catch and grab. HNGD!

  3. Only thing worse that you can give your wife for an anniversary gift might be a vacuum or a gut buster.
One mans loss is another mans gain. Congratulations!
    Cheers, Barrie.

Hah, Reminds me of a sneaky I pulled on my wife..
I was heavy into CB radios when the new 40 channels came out..I wanted one bad..
It was a few days before her birthday and I convinced her that a new 40 channel would be an awesome gift..She enjoyed talking on the CB so it worked out in my favor..
I could of bought her a new lawn mower though..

Thanks, but not quite ngd. I got her about seven years ago, gigged the heck out of her with a country glam band. Incredibly sturdy build. I use her kind of as a specialty guitar these days.
My jazz trio partners call her my Tibetan Surf music guitar, but I love the trem and the airy open tone of the neck pu. Also in California you are required by law to have at least one surf guitar.

Okay... So... Let's start with "Glam Country" band... Lol... I live in Nashville, and yet I still have to ask... What the hell is "Glam Country"?
    Lol... I've gotta know now...

And second off, everybody knows that the best gift you can get the wife is a bowling ball... Thanks, Fred Flintstone! Lol...

And I can vouch for the California Surf Guitar law... We have a "Tele Quota" here in Nashville... Lol...
Really beautiful Strat, man... Nice save!

The Platinum Cowboys. We went total Roy Rogers drag. We played to a high end clientele here in N. Cali and the SF Bay area. Played a gig in Daly City where 200 drag queens line danced the Achy-Breaky. Played a New Years eve gig on a barge that sank in the Sacramento river just after midnight. Wish I had a video of the band loading our gear out onto the dock as the gangway got steeper and steeper. Never had so much fun or made so much money as I did with those guys. I don't like country music, but I love playin' cowboy.

With the age, I have to ask, is the serial number on the neckplate and what are the first 5 letters & digits if it is?

.007-.038 gauge? Curious...how do the compare to say .009 or .010 .... It sounds so small it would go through your finger. Although Billy Gibbons supposedly plays with .008 so not as a big a difference. Nice guitar BTW!

After 53 years of playing and 40 years of hard labor, believe me, I go way on beyond that.;)

Beautiful looking axe! So, one woman's gym membership turns into another man's lawn ornament and you became the Midnight Cowboy?

We're never satisfied are we. 23 channels are just not enough! :)
Looks like we've got us a convoy!
