Hey guys, I officially joined Squier Nation this week. I just found these NC Chinese beauties to add to my harem.

Notice anything different? There is only 1 major manufactring difference that I can find. Maybe you can see another.

HINT: It's not the head stock labels.

Where the truss rod adjusts? The Bullet Series logo'ed one on ball of headstock is heel adjust.....

EDIT - I can't SEE if it is, I'm guessing on a hunch....

    Welcome to the forums!

I would have never caught that truss rod thing, Guitarmageddon has a great eye for details!

I don't know if I'm right yet - those 'Bullet Series' VN and CN's have different quirks.....the necks were made both ways....

  5. Even after having it pointed out, I still can't see the difference in that photo.(Yes, I'm wearing my glasses):D
    Cheers, Barrie.

I can't either! I'm guessing based on what I know about both models....

The pickguards look like a different color. Or maybe one aged differently than the other..

  8. Well no wonder I can't see it. I thought there'd be a visual difference. ;)
    Cheers, Barrie.

Looking at the pics again it doesn't look like either of them have a truss rod hole at the nut.

The head stock decals are in different positions.

The one on the left is an NC6 or NC7 and would have a bare unlined truss rod access hole at the headstock....

the one on the right looks to be an NC4

I see it now! It's very subtle.

downloading the pic and zooming to full size reveals what I believe to be an unlined truss rod hole headstock adjust NC6-7 on the left, and a heel adjust truss rod NC4 on the right....

Spot on! I paid $80 for the 96 50th Ann., and a whopping $50 for the 94 (not a scratch). I mean...come on. Granted I drove 110 miles each way for the 94, but I just had to.

The 96 saw some weather I guess...94 never removed from the old Guitar Center bag. The strings are BLACK from age...1994.

Congratulations! HNGD X 2. Since they are virtually identical, especially the playing part, now you have to decide what pickup mods for one or both. That's why I have so many black ones. Different p/g (yes, drill for 11-hole) and different pickups.

Hearty congratulations, welcome to the NC family.

ETA: Caught your last post. It has been a source of amazement how very few of these easily modded, 22-25 years old guitars have ever had any mods. It has been my experience, percentage wise that many new are modded, but very few NC's. I think I've had maybe 4 or 5 out of 25 NC Strats, that's counting the NC partscasters in the works. NC body & neck, just not the original ones...:D

The one on the left has 22 frets, the right has 21.
