Cant wait to see this thing finished. I think an Esquier is about as cool as a guitar can get.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the parts I've been able to collect for this. Most were at very reasonable prices, and most thru Reverb with free shipping.

    Treynor....you pirate....Is that a Flamingo in yer avatar?????......Oh Well........Back on Topic

Project sounds great, but, I gotta ask, why no Electrosocket???? It's not a glaring deviation from the classic design, when plugged in......

I had a great coffee table book, years ago, about Billy Gibbons' guitar collection....One or two pix showed him in his guitar storage area (large) with like, 5 or 6 BSB Esquires (old ones)......I was Very, Very jealous........WAH...all I need is One......willhowl:oops:

Hey Willhowl! I thought about the Electrosocket since I have one in a tele I bought from Ray (strato67) several years ago. But I settled on old school for this one. Easy to change later if I want to.

I love Esquire’s, can’t wait to see the finish product, I like using the SD Vintage stacked on mine to add more switching combinations.:)

I know I said I'd wait until I had all the parts laid out to take pics, but couldn't help but share a sneak peak with this beautiful neck! I wanted to start working on the project a little this morning so I installed the Kluson tuners.

Quality work on this control plate, IMHO. Can't wait to hear it in action with the SD Jerry Donahue!

    920D Custom Shop "Eldred Mod":

Switching position #1. This rear position is the same as on a standard Esquire. The pickup is routed through the volume control only, with the tone control bypassed for a hotter, louder lead sound with extra highs. • Switching position #2. This middle position is also the same as on a standard Esquire, with the pickup routed through the volume and tone controls. It sounds a little warmer than position #1. • Switching position #3. In the front position of the Eldred Esquire wiring, the pickup is routed through a single, small capacitor and volume control, with the tone control bypassed once again.

    Features:

    • 1 - Chrome Control Plate
    • 2 - Chrome Knurled Flat Knobs
    • 2 - CTS 250K Solid Shaft Pots
    • 1 - Original CRL USA 3-Way Selector Switch
    • 1 - .047µF Orange Drop Capacitor
    • 1 - 3300 pF Ceramic Capacitor
    • 2 - Gavitt Vintage style push cloth wire (Black/White)
    • 1 - Switchcraft Output Jack

Thanks, Barrie! I'm definitely taking my time. I've thought about an Esquire build for a few years, so no rush now.

Thought I'd throw in the inspiration for this build...Mr. Petty! I hope it will have a vibe somewhere in between these two.
