Been wanting to play around more on bass and was looking for a practice amp so checked out SGW- guitar deals are getting harder to find there but still seem to be able to find decent amps - came across an '89 Peavey Minx 35W for not a lot of money

While perusing I also put a couple lowball bids on a "classic" '88 Backstage 110 65W and an '81 20W Backstage and ended up with three American made 10 inch speaker combo amps for about the price of a new imported 8 inch combo

My first decent solid state amp was a peavey backstage plus, been hooked ever since. Plus the older ones like those are built like a tank, throw them down the stairs or off a roof and they'll be fine.

My first Peavey was a Renown. Was back in the shop 3 times in the first year. Then I had to pay again when it died after the warranty ran out. I assume I had a lemon. But I tend to stay away from Peavey becasue of that. :(

You must have had a serious lemon. I've known guitar players still using their Renoun since new without a hours trouble. In fact that whole old line of 2-12's both SS & hybrid (6L6 drive) that are extreme staying power.

Congrats on the bass amp medley! HNBAD!

Right on, a friend of mine was gigging a backstage 110 last time I saw his band. Great sounds coming from that little amp.
