I was gonna mod the SE with P90s, but decided to keep it in SSS configuration, 'cause I didn't have one of those. And you have to have one of those, don't you? Thanks to everyone for their ideas on that one:

    http://www.squier-talk.com/threads/moding-my-se-cxs-with-p90s.145895/

So I picked up a COB 08 bullet, and:

    Gibson P90s
    3ook pots
    Sprague 0.022mf cap
    Custom routing and pickguard
    Shielding
    Decked trem
    Gotoh m'heads
    Master vol and tone
3 way switch (soon to be 4 way switch, for both series and parallel)
    Slinky 10-46s

    … et voilà!

It's joining the family of (L-R) Ibanez ARC100, Ibanez AS200 (MIJ '80s), Squier Cabronita and Squier CXS 07.

I've never played P90s before so I can't give you a comparison, but I can tell you I am one VERY HAPPY CHAPPIE!!!

I know it's a cliché but it really is the best of the single coil and humbucker worlds. And in a strat body it just seems so … 'right'. I dunno, like the first date you had with your significant other?

Originally thought cream covers but I already had the black covers, so that's what went in, and think I like the look of that. The knobs and switch are the original white, but miiiight swap them out for black, too. But I don't mind the contrasting colours, either. What do you think, Squier-masters?

Love to say I did it myself but it's well beyond my ability. Glad I got a pro to do a proper job of it. Awesome work, thanks Ray (Brisbane Guitar Repair Clinic).

That's a beauty. It looks like a factory job.

Thanks Tony, it was in mint condition when I got it. I like it when a guitar looks like it's been gigged 900,000 times too, but it has to be one or the other I think!

I ordered a set of Guitar Madness' S-90's on Monday, single coil sized P90's. Can't wait to get them, first venture into that world, but I can't wait to hear them.

That is sweet looking. I have P90’s in a Les Paul and love them. I agree that P90’s are the ultimate mix of single coil and humbuckers for sound

Yeah I’m a big fan of P90s in a LP - Mark McEntee of the Divinyls got awesome tone that way.

My 99 BRG Squier standard Strat. I've been looking for a way to get it more play time by being unique, and I think this will do the trick.

So how are you guys mounting the P90’s? Straight into the wood? I’m getting ready to build a P90 Strat using a Starcaster. I’m kind of scared to put the mounting screws right into the body. Would like to make a bracket to mount them to to the pickgaurd or something. Any thoughts?

I think the black covers look great. I would switch the knobs to black as well, but it looks fantastic the way it is!

    Just a standard 3way. 2nd tone is a dummy.

Got the S90's today. Sound great, not quite a single coil but not a humbucker either. All I was hoping for to be honest. I like 'em. 20190111_143024.jpg
