I was just trying to install my tremolo arm and read on a couple of sites that there should be a spring furnished with the arm, but there's no spring with mine and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and, if so, how did you solve it. The spring seems to control how the bar hangs and without it the bar is just in the wrong place. I tried using a small spring that I had on hand but it's just a bit too large and gets caught in the threads. Will Squier provide a replacement or do I have to buy another after-market arm to get the spring?

The spring comes on US Fenders, I dont believe Squiers have ever had a spring. It doesnt hold the bar "in the right place", its to make it stiffer to prevent overtightening and breakage of the arm.

Or you can wrap the threads with a bit of teflon tape like you'd use to wrap pipe threads
