Yep you heard it right. Its a candlenut wood body. Got it new for $28 shipped . I couldn't turn it down especially with my incredibly bad GAS disease. Weighs 2.8 lbs. Weird kinda wood I must say. Anyhow I just gave it a stain conditioner, and it took well on this weird wood. I may do this body in an oxblood or burgundy Feibings Analine Dye. I have a 1997 Squier Affinity neck that's going on it with Squier hardware as well. I also have some killer high ohms epiphone humbucker pickups that I'm putting in also. I'll keep you all posted with other pics on the progress. This thing is light as a feather.

    Raw no finish.

Neck fit perfectly. So far so good. I'm probably not going to pre-drill anything, as this wood is so light.

I actually kind of like the natural finish. May stay natural. Unsure right now. I could do 2 coats of clear coat I suppose.

I used this clear coat on my headstock decals and on my new jazzmaster build body. So far I like it. I got it from an automotive paint company online awhile back. I'll try and find the company for tour.

The clear coat was from www.automotivetouchup.com
Shipping is very expensive. I'd just get another type of clear coat I guess, on ebay or Amazon or at my local hardware store I suppose.

I'm always interested in types of finishes on guitars. I'm in the automotive paint and body repair business and I have used 2k clear coats on a couple of strats.

This clear coat mentioned isn't too shabby, but the shipping is expensive. www.automotivetouchup.com

Re: Clear Coat..... I'm going to try this High Gloss Clear Coat w primer, on my latest guitar projects, simply because its cheaper and I don't have to pay for shipping. I just bought it at Lowe's. I'll let you members know soon when I try it. I'll send some pics. The Cost was $6.51 total with tax, and that ain't bad. It had some great reviews.

2 Coats of Stain Conditioner so far. Now I think I'm just gonna go with 2 coats of clear coat (shown in above pic) lacquer now and keep it natural. Although I was considering a burgundy or an oxblood Analine dye. Any thoughts? Keep it natural? 15739175216681379289814050209487.jpg

Yeah keep it natural, for those days when you just want to get lost in the grain, while kicking back.

Make sure you get that input jack the right way round when you fit it for real ;)

Natural, I really like wood that looks like itself. A fancy painted guitar could be made from anything.

  20. That one section on the lower side looks quite light in color to the rest. That looks very well routed !!! $28 … deal.
