That's flippin' amazing !! Those are going for $299 new.

    I think I paid $100 for the head (pre-owned) and then $200 for the cab. $130 is a giveaway ... now I'm upset. :(

But I'm happy for you. Load up the pedals and let it rip !!!

    HNAD !!!

As you know, I'm still trying to get my fingers to move faster, and learning guitar. But power chords was a lesson last week ... And definitely 'can do' with a lot of enthusiasm!!

    @Eddie
    Et al.

    Question:
Acoustic g120 DSP vs. Fender Mustang II V2 vs. Fender Mustang III V2?

This is not a fair comparison by any means. The Mustang II v2 is a 40-watt amp. The Mustang III v2 is a 100 watt, but only one speaker (12 inches).

Did I mention how much volume this Acoustic G120 creates? Wow! Like wow loud!!

But, overall thoughts on the comparison of amps?

    Thanks.

    Interesting... About amp need:
How many amps does one need? From the 'five watt world' guy on YouTube.

    My amps:
    1) Fender Champion 20
    2) Roland Cube 30x
    3) THE POWER CHORD AMP:
    Acoustic G120 DSP

    And you?

Right now, just a Blackstar Fly 3 with the extra cabinet lol

I guess at some point I'll buy something bigger. Not a priority right now.

    Hey!

I just read your post and saw I was mentioned :D

I saw that Relish video a few weeks ago and thought to myself... this is a tinkerers paradise... expensive but think how much time and effort (in some cases money) you will save in the long run when experimenting and switching out different pickups..

On the other hand, if you spend more time actually playing the guitar and not playing with the guitar, you will probably benefit from a straightup, no frills axe with a known and reliable track record.

If it was given to me, I'd maybe entertain the thought of keeping it. Otherwise, just a normal guitar will do it for me.

But imagine how many pickup companies are absolutely in LOVE with this swiss-army-knife guitar?

Maybe this will be another posting?

Does anyone know about this amp? What do you know about it?

Hughes & Kettner Attax 100 watt combo amp? It's a mid 1990s something...
I've found some basic specs, but the info I've found is mostly lacking in any depth or clarity.

I think I found the old manual off of the HK website.

Funny, I've always thought of HK as Hong Kong.

Has anyone had this amp? Seems like a monster!!

    Ehem, ehem, ehem @Eddie ? :) :) :)

I'm also curious about the pre-amp tube. Replacement? etc.
    Any experience?

And, ehem, yes, I purchased it!!! Craigslist.
And YES, I'm definitely done with GAS stuff ... until I get more proficient at playing that 6 string instrument. :)

Though, I could use an external speaker w/ cabinet --- 60 watts or so? hahahahahaha

    Ehem, @Eddie

OK, now what to do? NAD. Three weeks ago.
The Acoustic 120 watt DSP amp head.
    Speaker cab?

And yes, I still have the Acoustic 120 watt amp with dual 12 inch speakers.

A 4x12 cab will almost always sound better than a combo amp.. but do you have the room and the neighbors for it?..

If this hasn't yet mutated into a budget amp thread....

The guitar market is an odd one in terms of the natural process of economics.

Guitar makers, through insight and innovation, want to move the instrument forward in design and feature and material evolution.

Guitar buyers, in general, want designs and features and materials from the 50s and 60s with temporary exceptions.

Consumers in a free market economy, though, call the tune and companies dance to it if they want to survive. So here we still are.

    So it goes.

Never have I heard in this life of mine anyone saying "I liked the tone of this guitar" when it came to electric guitars, " like the sound of the pickups" or the sustain is amazing but never as I said anything about the tone of an electric guitar.. just saying.

I'd prefer Tesla refine the flame thrower they were working on ?

    Too true.
This style was supposed to render all older guitars obsolete back in the '80s but they occupy a niche market now and Strats and LPs are still with us decades later:
