    Grouse hunting
Todays Grouse scouting trip. We rode 38 miles and never seen a single Grouse however we did see a ton of Turkeys and a beautiful Black Bear. I tried to get a picture but he refused to come out from behind some trees and I couldn't pick him up on camera.

I simply called it "Statue in High Grass." I contemplated calling it "Contemplating Briggs & Stratton." :)

It was the name you put on them -- "feral houses" -- that confused me. I saw the name as suggesting that they were commonly understood objects, but such were unfamiliar to me and doing a Google revealed no clue.

I know the word "feral" as these days being most commonly applied to cats. But they were totally unlike any cat house I'd ever seen. ;-)

    :D

Could wild or savage houses have been better qualificatives too use ? I dunno, English being my second language, I came up with feral to illustrate them escaping from the studio and spreading out of control in the wild. A bit like how real houses are spread over here.

No. "Feral houses" was a good use of words. Indeed the very fact that it made me (and perhaps others) Google it says so. The word itself means wild and untamed. I like it! It deserves to catch.

Brings to my mind their poetic opposite, as sung about in the song "Little Boxes"

My early life was in those "little boxes." Neat and orderly in rows. Postwar suburbia. Basically identical apart from this or that little touch (such as color). (Ever hear of "Levittown"?)

"Distinctions without a difference" as the old saw goes. Or, again, "cookie cutter."

I prefer helter skelter. Houses as individual as the souls within.

    Rare. Very rare.

The falls at Willow River state park. We did a couple mile hike to here tonight with all the kids. I’m tired now!
