Hey! Nice Strat!! Not anything related to the Silver series - this is a 1990/91 ST-357 Standard. Higher end than the Silver Series.....

90/91 was the first year of the headstock end adjust truss rod for Japanese Squier products.

Obviously the black pickguard is not original, would have been a 1 ply or 3 ply white....

thank you wow i was under the understanding that no MIJ guitars were imported to UK till 91-2 untill first Hank Marvin Squiers And the silver series and the first batch of K serial numbers had no Silver series logos on the headstock until later in the K batch

That's not true about importing - they started importing Fender Japan guitars in 1982/83 with the first JV's. In fact the 80s Fender Japan Squier and Fender branded stuff is more plentiful in the UK than in north america.

Silver Series did start with some K's that had the Silver Series logo on the ball of the headstock, but specs were changed a bit. A silver series if it has a black pickguard, it would be 3 ply and the pickup covers, knobs etc would also be black.....

I don't understand what you mean.

Are you saying that from 87-91 there were no Japanese Squiers exported to the UK? Because that's false.

Planetbotch is a website people use a lot but it has a lot of inaccuracies, if you happened to get your info there....

FujiGen Gakki was making the guitars from 1982 to the late 1990s.....they were the only Fender Japan factory until about 1993, then Dyna Gakki was added.....

Regardless, awesome guitar you have there!

HNGD! Black Strat with Maple neck I love it, very Gilmourish. I have a Black and Maple MIM Std that's a DG tribute.
