Howdy! I'm Lars, and live in Austin Texas, but grew up in SE Wisconsin. I've wanted to play the guitar since I was in Highschool, but never did anything about it until last week. I picked up a very inexpensive Epiphone Les Paul Goth & Boss Katana 50 amp as my first rig. Being older (I'm 42) I have a little disposable income, so I kept looking because I love the Strat shape as much as the Les Paul shape and stumbled on a beautiful Squier Deluxe Strat Hotrails that looks practically new. A good friend of mine gave me his Ibanez tube screamer amp stack as partial payment for some money he owed me, so I now have two great rigs to play, which is great as my daughter has expressed interest as well! I took my first lesson this past Monday, and have been practicing transitioning between chords for fifteen minutes twice a day every day. I'm loving it so far! Y'all have already been a big help. I read that a lot of the Hotrails were assembled wrong from the factory, and mine was no exception. I've got CTS Pots, an Orange Drop cap, a new 5 Pos switch, and a new switchcraft jack on the way. I'm looking forward to learning and participating with the discussion! Cheers!
