Here's what I want, a remote toy that I can chase the Grackles off my bird feeder, and can still be a blast running it for fun around the yard ... many of you have kids maybe you can give some suggestions possibly rechargeing capabilities.

Thanks for the informative readings ! I've narrowed down my bird feeding to 3 suet feeders and a couple of thistle feeders for the finches. I am not going overboard cost wise so as consequence the Grackle like the suet, not a lot I can do but chase them off a bit. It helps a little.

Good luck. It's like wanting to feed the red squirrels, but no grey ones. Impossible.

The grackle is a bird too and if there is easy food it will go for it. You feed the birds for your enjoyment, they don't need it, plenty out there for them to eat. If you find something to scare them, it will scare smaller birds even more.

The only solution I can see for you, is to find a feeder too small for them to park their big ass on it.

My wife's grandfather rigged the guts from a bug zapper into his feeder. He just plugged it in when he wanted to chase certain birds off.
    Or this...

@DrBeGood I know I won't stop them, I just will shuffle them off when I am paying attention

My wife just put out two seed feeders and a hummingbird feeder. My comment was that the birds don't need more food and now we'll just have guano in the yard as well as squirrels. But she wants to see the wildlife (unless it's deer eating her flowers). I wouldn't mind seeing a hawk swoop up a smaller bird, a squirrel, or one of those damned rabbits that ruined my fence.

She also wanted to feed a frog that took up residence one of the flower pots. Again, I said that if the frog is alive, it already has enough food. But she made me ask a friend, who did her PhD thesis on frogs, about what to feed the frog. My friend's response was that we should just leave the outside light on to attract insects at night and the frog will be happy.

But I'm getting off topic and this is a guitar forum. Put your amp outside and blast them with some ground-shaking power chords.
