So I have this thing. It’s a parts-caster, I got it about a year ago. I was killing some time before work at MGR, and this thing just spoke to me. I ended up A/B-ing it with every other Tele in the store (and a few other guitars, too) and it played and sounded head and shoulders above them all. It’s a MIM neck, a G&L bridge, and a pair of SD “Little 59” pups. The body is sanded down, still kind of rough and with dents and scrapes all over... I took the guard off, and all the cavities have CAR in them. So I was always going to refinish it, once I finished my 13 other projects...
it’s sat in my guitar area, otherwise known as the basement and when I went to get it out, all the metal parts are all corroded :( So I started taking it apart yesterday to clean it up, and hit upon the idea of just getting an already-finished body to reassemble it, so it’s done before 2100...

So while looking for G&L bridge saddles
    https://g-l-online-store.myshopify.com/products/saddle-set-for-asat-classic
Which are about $30 for a set, I stumbled upon this: a sparkle red Tele body! Hey, I could just put it all back together with this! I put in a bid low enough that I could afford, and also so low that I’ll probably be outbid right away... and of course I “won” the auction. So now that I got it, I realized these use a different bridge than a standard Tele, and aren’t these thinner than a standard Tele, too? Ugh...
So also while perusing my options, a bunch of these Thinline bodies were on the bay. I’ve always wanted one, but every Squier TL I’ve tried had such a tiny neck, that despite it sounding good, I’ve passed on them. Hey, I’ve got a neck I like, I have good pickups, the bridge I have should just drop into this (once I de-rust the saddles)... all I gotta do is get some new wiring and I should be good to go!

If you mean the sanded-down body I have, As far as I can tell, it’s a MIM, candy apple red Tele body. The paint and marks in the cavities make me think that, anyway...
the sparkle red body I have coming I’m 99% sure is one of those Affinity ones from recently.

Survey says.... it’s a 2010 MIM. And I’ll bet the neck and pick guard came with this body.

So I knew the pups weren’t original (they’re SD, “Little 59’s”) I never actually opened up the control area though... I had NO idea it had a push/pull pot, it sounded really good as-is... all this is getting replaced though.

I thought this body had a thin sealer coat on it, but it turns out that it’s just filthy :) I sanded it with 400 and hit it with some Naptha and it looks a lot better.

Good project. Not sure about all thinlines, but I have an '08 that is 24 3/4" scale.

I mean, other than that the body is perfect for what I need-the neck fits in the pocket snugly, all my hardware will drop in (after I get the corrosion off) and other than the neck pickup hole needing to be opened up a tad, it’s good... I like the color and the grain looks really nice. It’s clearly a 2-
piece body with a one piece top, and it feels about half as light as the old body... I was hoping to have this back together this spring, not 3 years from now...

I’ve glued top cracks on acoustic guitars, so I THINK I can get this one done, and I’ve used superglue to fix clear finishes before... or I could just bust out the sander and zap the thick-ish finish off (assuming I don’t blow through the stain)

I’ve already made a “for sale” post for the sparkle body. It’s cool, but once I found the Thinline, that’s the direction I totally want to go now.
