I ran across this new blonde CV50's Strat model last night and much to my surprise it was made in China. From the S/N and the logo I am assuming this is latest production.

It was nice and light, from the 6 to 7 pound range I would guesstimate. I know a lot of folks will want to hear that the neck felt thicker than my 2008 sunburst CV50 down at the first fret area. I would have loved to have been able to measure it.

When I plugged it in, it sounded great to me.

The only downsides for this particular one is that it had some slight fret sprout going on and it needed a better setup.

I'm not sure my pics really captured the trans blonde finish too well. You could see wood grain through parts of it. I would love to see them offer this model with gold hardware to make a poor man's Mary Kaye model.

I'm partial to the aged finish on the neck. Very pretty instrument.

I recently picked up SERNO 00...90 (also white blonde). Came here due to the "Crafted in China" tag... are these old necks or are they still shifting production over to Indonesia? Anyone know the story on these guitars? Very strange!

The big question is , do you now have this guitar? If not, why not?

They were going to pull out of China but I think they ended up making some there, most will however now be made in Indonesia - these are not old necks, they're new production. I think the Indonesian factory may have been behind due to flooding this past spring....

If these new CV 50s and 60s Strats have the same new pickups as my new CV 70s Strat, I like them even more than the Tonerider sourced ones in the previous Chinese CV 50s and 60s Strats.

Thanks for the info- we'll have to wait for time to decide which is best i suppose, CIC or CII. FWIW the pickups sound pretty darn good. Cheers

Strange. I wonder if it's pine as the Indo 50s model is supposed to be. Hard to tell but looks it. I think the chinese CVs were still in production in early '19 so it makes me wonder if the body isn't indo but they had some chinese necks left over so they used those. I also see it's $399 vs $349. We know the regular 50s indo strat is $349, so I wonder if the extra $50 is because it has made in china on the head or if the new indo line will be $399 instead of $349 for the white blonde because it's considered a custom finish. Same as what they r doing with the 60s tele due to the binding or the thinline due to the F hole body.

The font of the serial number, and everything else about that stamp on the back of the headstock is different than the old Classic Vibe line.....even the serial prefix has changed.....so they're not old production necks.

All new CV50s/60s/70s Strats are $349.99
