For those waiting for a Firefly 338 hollow body, they are available this morning on Amazon, $149.

They were available yesterday. Seems they aren't selling out as quick as they once were.

After many batches, I was expecting that.

Last batch took over a week to sell out... keep in mind, the batches are getting bigger all the time.

AND the price went up $10

Has anyone been able to compare the Firefly 338 to an Epiphone 335 DOT? I sold my Epi because the body was too big for me. I'd like to replace it with a semi-hollow but would like a smaller body, like an Epi 339.

I can't answer that specific question, but I was finding myself not loving the size weight of the Dot, 335 Deluxe, Peavey (something), etc that I was finding in stores. I went with a Ibanez AS73, which is just slightly smaller than the 335 style guitars. I personally wasn't looking for something as small as a 339.

Just looking at the photos and the control spacing, and videos of folks playing them, it seems like the 338 is going to be closer to a 335 style than a 339.

Dean used to make a Boca 6 string that was a really small semi-hollow, closer to a LP body in size, but still double cut. I had one for awhile, but it wasn't anywhere near the same as a larger 335-ish guitar. I traded it in towards a Blueshawk that I couldn't refuse.

    The Firefly 338 is a nice in-between size; bigger than a 339, smaller than a 335.

Thanks. Sounds about right to me,

How do they play/sound? I wonder if they sound more LP or more 335. Are many mods recommended or are Fireflys generally pretty decent as-is?

I guess with free shipping and free returns there isn't much to lose.

They are definitely decent as-is. A lot of guys immediately upgrade the tuners, pickups and bridge. Mine has nice tuners but I did replace the pickups. The bridge is on my to-do list. It works fine but has an obnoxious buzz.

I'm not going to say that it's just as nice as a more expensive guitar because that is simply not true. I will say that despite it being the cheapest guitar I own, it gets played more than any other. Can't explain why. It doesn't make sense... and doesn't have to. Good is good.

So at least on par with a similarly priced Squier.

There was, but it wasn’t as big a batch as was on the website before them, The ones went up on Amazon exactly one week after they sold out on the website (which lasted two weeks)

I have the iced tea burst 338 in my shopping cart.

Edit: I just pulled the trigger. The site stated that there was one available.

This is for another thread, but I need to stop buying guitars.
