image.jpeg My girls are 20, 12, and 4. They all still love to see where the elves turn up. My wife runs out of ideas pretty quickly, so it's up to me to keep it entertaining.Anybody else participating in this Christmas tradition ?

That’s a great hiding place! I might have to borrow that one. My 10 yo still loves to look for him. Definitely a fun traditional that will be missed when he grows up.

Here he is hiding in the Christmas tree this morning.

You may have an elf on a shelf but do you have a guitar on a bar?

    Lonn does!

My daughter grew out of it I guess.. Kind of makes me sad. I use to do something every night to entertain her. She would get up and run out into the living room and look for him. I would do things like put him in the Barbie car with a couple barbies or make a mess and make it look like he got into stuff. At one point she thought he shrank a coffee cup of mine to use for hot cocoa.
It's hard to see them grow out of believing in the magic and slowly get crushed by reality of life. But that's just life I guess.

Hell no. Elves should be making toys, not creeping around my house.

That comment reminds me of one year when my daughter was little. She went like a week not sleeping and I would hear her crying at night.
I thought something bad happened or something was really wrong. Then I finally figured out that they had made Ginger bread men at school and the teacher made them think they got out of the oven and had escaped and ran off. My daughter was terrified that there was a Ginger bread man creeping around out house at night. She was genuinely terrified.

Call me the Grinch, if you'd like, but I think it's kind of creepy. My kid was basically an adult before I ever heard of this, but I would never tell him there was some elf hiding in the house, watching his every move so he could rat him out to Santa. Just seems like something to sell $30 dolls by creating some new "tradition".

    Bah, humbug!

If someone can sell a banana duct taped to a wall for $120k, this "masterpiece" should be worth at least that...

Elf on a shelf is a creepy little snitch and you just know he's up to no good. People need to know about this jerk.

I didn't know the story until today, but you're absolutely right.

@bgmacaw's picture shows what should happen to every single one of 'em.
