    Hi Everyone,

I just picked up this 1997 Afinity series Duo Sonic which got damaged by a courier.

I thought it would make a great basis for a project and thought I’d share the progress here.

Did they charge extra for the relic finish?

Those aren't all that common. Sure you want to change it (even though it took a hit)?

Do you think it’s worth keeping it stock?
I know they weren’t made for long but thought due to the damage, even if I refinish in the same colour it’s not going to be original

I passed on a 2017 Fender Duo Sonic SE in Canary Yellow yesterday that I could have had for $220. Mint.

I have no clue. I have the same 1993 Fender MIM version and they go for a decent penny. So I guess I dont' really know.

Dunno why you'd pass. But the 90s MIM Fenders seem to go for $500 or better. YMMV.

    What’s SE?
The newer Duo Sonics have a 24” scale length I believe.
    These 90s ones are 22.7”

Right, so I am now changing my mind about this guitar.

I’m thinking repair and refinish in the original Torino Red.

While I have the guitar apart I’m going to make some templates and take measurements for a scratch built Duo Sonic that I can use higher quality electrics and parts on.

I’m about to change the tuners on mine, and found out I still need to enlarge the peg holes even with the vintage Kluson style Gotohs. Still loving playing it though. I think I’m going to be spoiled on these short scales for what I like to play.
