    There is a circuit difference between the Malmsteen and the DOD 250. That being a different input coupling capacitor value and the op amp. I picked up a broken Malmsteen version, changed the input cap to a .01mfd and sounds much more like an old 250 now.

    I bought mine in 1983 or so when I got my first Squier strat. It was only $20. Funny good fortune I have. I have had quite a few pedals and they all come and go except for two. The 250 and the FRV-1.
