I think they are Japanese,, unless they are cloth covered,, then they would be left over JV pups.. Possibly american.. Or not.. Check for markings..
The plastic bobbins are SQ5 and the staggered are most likely a SQ4?.. Not to sure about that..
All this is info from the 21 frets web site.. http://www.21frets.com/squier_jv/thesqpage.htm
A incredible source of info,, not just the JV but almost any Japanese squier..

Thanks. I've looked at a lot of online sources, but only one addressed these pickups though not with certainty. Whatever they are, I really like them!

Spotted a laminated? Board on 21 frets,, an 83 with the slotted Tuners.. I'm not worried about it,, there is so many variations in squier,, even from month to month..

    Nice guitar, congratulations!
Your SQ is a very early one and i think it has the specs of the Squier CST-55 models which had JV serial numbers. These CST-55 are basically the same model like the SQ strats but have this thin veneer fingerboard, slottet tuners and the same Japanese pickups as also fittet to some domestic Squier JVs. But I'm not sure about which pickups they really are.

Cool. Your neck was made just two days before the neck of my Squier SQ03318 Telecaster which also has slottet tuners.

And yours was two days before mine. We should all have a birthday for them.
