A friend asked me yesterday to help her daughter find a decent Fender Strat. She's been learning on acoustic and wanted her first electric. She had $400 to spend and I told her we can do better than that. There's been a 2010 MIM Blacktop Strat listed on CL for weeks now at $405, never changing price. I texted the guy, he said he'd take $345 so we went tonight to check it out. As you can see it came home with her. It's in mint condition but hasn't been played in years so the strings are grubby and the frets need polishing. They're bringing it over Sunday so I can explain how it all works and give it the "Lon Teardown" while they're there and explains what I'm doing and why. Should be fun. Here's the proud new Fender Strat owner!

Yeah I've been watching this guitar myself for a few weeks but never thought to ask about it. Duh. No complaints though, I got the 2013 Gibson LPJ and Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410 for $600.

I hope she didn't actually want a Strat, 'cause that ain't one, not with two HBs.

My youngest has been pestering me for a guitar. She's turning 7 next month. She says she promises to learn. Oh man. I've heard this story before.

I've tried like heck to get my 2nd daughter to play. Even brought her 3 different guitars. Didn't happen.

I'm thinking 7 may be too young. But I wouldn't mind a Squier mini to mess around with. It'll be my excuse to get another guitar. :)

Do it! I bought one for my son when he was younger, but he had no interest in learning it. They're inexpensive and not always the best build quality but the one I got sounds amazing. I love my Squier FSR, but the mini sounds more like a classic strat even with the upgrades I did to mine. It's a PITA to tune but it's fun to play once in a while. chords are hard for adult fingers(especially my uncordinated ones).
