Default What piece of equipment do you wish you still had?

What's the one piece of equipment you sold or otherwise no longer have that you wish you still had?

For me it was a 1963 Fender Bandmaster amp like this one:

I sold it along with a 1964 2x12" cabinet (it matched except it was black/silver instead of blonde) for $175 (This was in about 1985) because it didn't sound like a Marshall. I'd kill to get that thing back.

What about you?

My Lyon Stratocaster copy guitar with humbucking pickup at the bridge. Maple neck, lightweight, small headstock, tremolo, red with white pickguard, brand name tuners (I do not remember what kind). That was a great guitar.

Easy.

My Marshall JCM900

It stopped working right and I was only about 15 at the time, couldn't afford to have it fixed so I just sold it cheap.

Now that I know better it probably just needed new tubes. I'm still kicking myself over that. *facepalm* stupid!

I also had a no-name Strat copy that was natural finish with a white pg and a black pickup in the bridge position, as well as a SG copy, that I lent to this guy who was gonna play guitar at this church where I was playing. Next thing I know he's disappeared and so have my guitars.

A few months later I went into a pawn shop (this was in Oklahoma City) and there are my guitars hanging there. The Strat copy was very recognizable because of the black pup. I said something to the pawn shop owner, but he wouldn't do anything because I had never filed a police report.

Remember, if you're looking to get ripped off, sometimes church is a good place for it.

I never lend a guitar unless I'm being given another guitar of equal value as collateral. Plus it has to be a guitar where if my guitar gets stolen I can keep and use the collateral guitar.

if someone needs a guitar badly and is begging to use one of mine, it's just tough ti**ies. Life is hard, so sad.

Too many horror stories I've heard like what Phoenix59 just said.

Phoenix56, my wife hada similar situation witha flute. She gave it to someone to do some reapirs on it and long story short, we found it in a Pawn hop a couple years later.

Now the piece of gear i still had?? I traded my Squier Tele Custom to my brother for a Epihone Les Paul 100 and NY Pro Strat copy. I ended up selling the LP and giving the NY Pro to my 11yr. old cousin(the only good thing about the deal).

Wish I still had my first amp, Sears Sivertone Twin 12. My brother sold it after I joined the Corps so he could get a couple of cymbals for his drumset. Oh well, at least it went for something musical. And we are still brothers and best friends.

As a bassplayer in the 70's I had a Fender Bassman 50 head and 2x15 cab. It never was powerful enough so I let it go. Now as a guitarist I'd love to have a Bassman 50 head!

I had one of the first Watkins copycats. For about 25 years I used it a a pre amp recording and live. I traded it for a Jazz bass which I no longer have. Maybe my Marshall Super 100 which was my first decent amp. It had not much bottom end and was bloody tempremental. I had to put a humbucker in my strat bridge position, but in the right circumstances with the wind blowing in the right direction it sounded really rather good. I swapped that head for a JCM800 bass head and have stuck with the 800's till this day.

A few things come to mind:

a 1985 Fernandes strat - Fender-like headstock, great neck, vintage sounding pickups. People actually came asking "who has the vintage strat?" when I or someone else started playing it.

a '62 reissue Fender telecaster. I put in SD antiquities pickups. A screamer of a guitar. I let this one go, too

A Peavey classic 30 amp. Beautiful. What was I thinking?

Honorable mention - I had a Roland Blues cube (I believe a 50). About the most tube sounding solid state amp I'd heard . . . . . yup . . . . . this, too.

Yes.

Hmm, why is there a minimum of 10 characters. "Yes" is all I wanted to say.

Years ago, I sold my Gibson RB-170 5-string banjo to buy a '70s Ibanez Les Paul. The Ibanez was really nice after I upgraded the tuners, bridge, and pups (Seymour Duncans). I subsequently sold the Ibanez to help pay for a plumbing bill.

I regret selling both, but my wonderful wife bought me a Deering Goodtime 'cuz she knew I missed my banjo.

My Gibson SJN. It was a '64 I think, and it was mint when I bought it from a family member who bought it new and took about 10 lessons and gave up. She sold it to me for 300 bucks in '82

http://vintage-guitars.blogspot.com/...ern-jumbo.html

I stupidly traded it for a Fender Mustang Bass and a Kustom bass head and cab. The value of the bass rig at the time was about a grand, so I thought I was making out like a bandit. Roy Clark bought the Gibson from the shop for 1500 supposedly.

My 1988 Rickenbacker 325. I got an incredible deal on it brand-new with a hardshell case while I was in college. I ended up having to sell it to pay bills, but I really miss it because it sounded sweet, even if it was hard to play. Rickenbacker doesn't make the 3/4-scale 325 anymore, so this one would be worth a LOT more today than I sold it for. Ugh!

This isn't it, but mine was identical to the one in the picture.

You can still get a 3/4 scale Ricky. They cost an arm and a leg and you'll wait a lifetime to get it delivered, but they're still making them.

I really miss my Marshall JCM-800 and my Fernandez Dragonfly guitar, had wraparound bridge dual humbuckers and metallic gold finish.

I wish I could undo the sale of my 1968 blue Rickenbacker, blue just like the one John Lennon played in the early days. I sold it to buy a fast car and to take the girl of my dreams out. She said no and I crashed the car in a year. The guy I sold it to still has it.

Make him sell it back to you at a discount. After all, it's old now.
