My new Blog: Cheapo Guitars
Hi,
I have started a Blog about Cheapo Guitars. I am not a dealer, nor do I work for any guitar company or store, I just love cheapo guitars.
Tak a look at my opening enty, and feel free to follow me if you like.
Thanks for looking!

Nice. I have always bought cheap guitars. The most expensive I have ever bought is the Squier classic vibe 50's. And I love it. But I also love my Dean Vendetta XM.

Well written. Those "Cheap" guitars were the beginning for many later very famous players. For the rest of us, they provide the base for our pleasure of playing.

I just entered today's blog entry: About me and my Squier 51.
This Cheapo guitar is what brought me back after not playing for 15 years.

Very nice work on the Blog, Phred. Cheapo guitars are a joy, nothing better than picking one up for a nice price and getting a nice guitar...

Wonder what our '90s Squiers will be worth in 20 years........

I'm guessing no more than they are now, probably less. To many produced to increase in value IMO.

I have wondered that myself.
I have collected cheapo guitars since the 1980's. Back then it was Kay, Silvertone, Vox, and stuff like that. Once the vintage guitar market went nuts, and prices skyrocketed, a lot of these neat, formerly cheap, oddballs rose along with the tide. IMHO, they just were not worth what people were paying. If it was old, they paid much $$$$$. I am not sure why. I mean, I really like Kays, but playability-wise they do not hold a candle to almost any vintage Fender.
Once the economy crashed, a lot of folks had these formerly cheap guitars, and paid too much for them. I now see prices coiming down, and some of these oddballs are under $200 again, where they belong.
As for future Squiers: Did you ever think a Musicmaster would be worth anything? Well, an original sure is now.

Just wondering like Slotrod65 said, the old Kays and stuff became hot commodities. Even now players are seeking Danelectros, which I could have had a few back then but thought they looked & sounded funny. I still do, but now they are collectible. Maybe someday players will see the Squiers like we do, good solid workhorse guitars and keep seeking them out. The will have alot of music mojo in them by then, too. I know the '95 Strat Squier series i just got has some. Can feel it when I play it. And for $125 that mojo is good magic.

I have a few old acoustics including a Kay and a Regal. Not worth much but I have only had them sense the 60s. lol
