Default California Series

Does anyone know anything about the Squier California Series?

I was living in Thailand and the only Squier guitars I saw were a couple of 'California Series' Strats and a Tele. I didn't know much about Squiers at the time and didn't look at them very closely.

I've since looked on the Squier website and googled but I can't find anything about them. Anyone shed any light?

if you imagine the Squier Standards as the Fender American Deluxes [as they both have the fulcrum tremolo] then the Squier California Series is the regular Fender American [as they share the attribute of a synchronized tremolo]. They're probably not listed on the squier website because they're a bit of a niche product seeming as they are, in the end, the same as the affinity series or bullet series. Only the build quality is less of a gamble. It's just a regular Squier where you pay more for the insurance that it'll play well.

I'd say that sounds about right. As far as the whole insurance idea, I think that's pretty accurate. My Bullet Strat plays about as nice as my Standard, but the hardware was junk and it needed more setup.

OMG! Thats nice to get the facts, thanks. Its like...
On this day the Lord looked down upon his children and saw that they were bewildered and confused.
So he sent forth a prophet to carry the words of enlightenmentt and truth to his flock.
That they might go forth and carry the holy message of the rock and of the roll to the people. The Children spread thier new found wisdom, that all might live in peace, tone and harmony!
LOL Thanks!!!
Nice gits hard to find seems like they are all in asia or south america.
Edit: Oh yeh stratphobic I see 4 other threads on these, still intersting though, nice attitude.

BoogerRooger, here in Kuantan (Malaysia) there are both large (1970s) and small headstock 'Squire California Series' Strats for sale. I got mine (small headstock) for RM600+, while the ones with the '70s headstock go for RM900+. One thing is for sure, they are all produced by Super Music Co. Ltd., a Shanghai-based manufacturer. Yes, you won't find these advertized on the Fender/Squire website. I guess they might be replicas or the remnants of some long-forgotten business franchise.
