settin' up? i give up!
so the guitar that's be hassling me isn't letting up. i've set everything to fender standard, necks straight has an arrow, the buzz that's in the frets now i can live w/...BUT...i am losing a metric crap ton of sustain in the upper registers! especially when i bend a note, it just peters out. does that mean it needs a fret leveling?

sounds more like you should raise the saddles a bit. hang in there, setups can take longer to do than you'd think. if you tweaked the truss rod, it can take a day or so for it to fully settle in.

the truss rod has been settling for 2 days. i'd hate to raise the saddles, the action is right where i want it...meh...it's always something...lol

ya know... it could be the nut.... to much angle off the nut cause by improper cut nut( try taking stings out from under trees and it it makes a diff., nut slots too deep will cause buzz or strings binding at the nut will cause sustain loss.

if you're losing the note when doing bends high on the neck, it isn't likely the nut causing problems. what radius is the fingerboard? it sounds like you're fretting out when you bend, and the only cure for this is to raise the action by a hair.

yep. i have to do this tonight on my MIJ SQ-series strat. I moved up to 11s and now i'm getting a little bit of fretting out on the 14th fret when i bend the E. gotta raise the action a hair and see if that takes care of the problem. this guitar has a 7.25" radius.

those can be tricky to get set up for bending, but not impossible.

awright...just got done adjusting, playing, adjusting some more, then playing it again...
i think i got it, the saddle went up a hair, but i think it could benefit from a new nut...but i'm out of money and don't have the tools, so for the time being, it's as perfect as it's gonna get.
another case closed! thanx guys!
