standard strat tremolo replacement
Hi, I'm new here and am loving it! I'm looking to buy a squier standard strat locally but the sellers tells me that the 2 point tremolo is damaged after a fall. (basically the original trem arm or replacement arms won't fit in anymore). After reading up on the problem it seems the stud spacing of the 2 point trem isn't a standard width and is approximately 63mm. Can anyone confirm this?
I haven't been able to find any replacements of the same dimensions though. Has anyone ever done this without redrillling for the studs? If there is no other option I'd like to order a new bridge from squier. Would this be done directly through squier or a local dealer?
Sorry for the mass of questions!
Thanks in advance

gfs doesn't have a replacement for a standard. word on the street is that the standards have a slightly different bridge spacing. i believe this is the replacement/upgrade: http://www.killerguitarcomponents.co...mart&Itemid=53
anyone else know about this?

And no, Guitar Fetish has nothing. No company makes a Squier 2 point replacement except Squier and Jackson which is the same company , same parts.
And a new one costs approximately $89 if they have to order it.

Heres a set in black with pickups and backplate.
I would check if this is the same spacing though because it's a 1987 so it may be different . It looks slightly different

Thanks for all the help guys. I didn't realise the jackson had the same tremolo, I'll have a look online to see if I can find any in the UK. Cheers.

That is a replacement block and not the whole bridge assembly. I actually have that block and yes, it's killer. They do not make the bridge plate yet, only the block.

You don't need to replace anything, all you need to do is adjust the spring tenson. There are ton of videos on you-tube that show how to do this.
Oh.. and welcome to the forum!
