eep! nearly lost it...

ok, so last nite, i'm playing my les paul standard and all of the sudden, the whole thing dropped. now i caught it, but when i did, i saw that the strap button had pulled all the way out! screw and all. I went to stick the screw it back in, and the wood on the inside is stripped. so...will a set of strap locks fix my issue? would putting some candle wax on the screw help give it some bite back into the wood? what's my best plan of attack?

I fixed a Jackson once by putting some wood glue in the hole then start shoving in some wooden toothpicks till its packed. Break off the toothpicks or cut them off w/a dremel tool and let dry. Its been working fine for years now.

The same thing happened to me. I used a screw with a washer to fasten the strap to my Les Paul. The strap does not come off the guitar. The dropping problem did not happen again.

Larger/Longer screw or the toothpick fix. I usually don't even wait for the glue to dry.
