I wont be buying one new but I like what these will mean down the line for the used Squier market...
The older Sunburst with black pickguard AND Cherry Burst Vintage Modified strats are already probably the most misidentified Squiers on the GC used site... They constantly get them confused with the normal Cherry Burst standard and Sunburst standard...
These new VM strats right here bring the curved "Stratocaster" logo on the headstock to the table... Which im sure will lead to these being confused with standard series strats as well down the line... Give it 4 or 5 years and im thinkin you will be seein these things being sold as standard strats quite often...
The more confusion the better... For those lookin for a great buy...

i like the white one but not a fan of the tuxedo look on it. i would get all black plastic parts on it. i have two black guitars already and thats 2 too many in black. but that black one does look sexy to me. reminds me of the old 80's Squiers.

Haha a 3 bolt neck would be sweet. But I have a feeling you're right Streetrod.

Fender's website currently shows each of these exact models twice, which makes me think each color will be available in both fingerboard options but they either don't have images yet or made a mistake.

Here's what the white one would look like with a maple neck.

LOL my '51 sounds great. I don't mind the basswood. Other companies use basswood for the heavy metal guitars like Jackson's. Not sure if them specifically just an example.

the only problem i've ever had with basswood is since it's a softer wood, it gets dinged up easier.

it might be a good thing IF they are 4 bolt as you can tell right away that they are new strats instead of getting them confused with the older 80's strats.

Aren't the "regular" VMs made in India out of cedar or something like that?
Wonder why these are basswood....

That white one has a touch of Ritchie Blackmore about it. A lot more tempting than his signature Strat, and actually has three pickups. Very nice indeed.

Newbie here with first post. Happy to see these coming out! I pretty much abandoned Strats 14 years ago when the Tele bug bit me, but lately miss it enough to borrow a Strat from a friend who wasn't playing it because I corrupted him into Teles.
As I previously had an early '81 that was '70s features, I knew I'd get one again in that style. Pondered getting a black MIM Classic '70s maple & dressing it in black trim with alternate pickups, but seeing this black VM has settled it for me. Any idea when they'll be available?

Thanks. Yeah, the black is it for me...I noticed your earlier input on that, and stratcross nailed my thoughts too (a fellow '80s kid, it appears, by the age noted).

Yup,80's kid for sure, seeing The Edges Strat back then made me want to get one just like it,seems like I remember Robert Smith from the Cure playing one like it also when he wasnt playing a Jazzmaster.

Because they're 70's strats... hence the big headstock.

Does anyone know where these are made? (Indonesia or India). Also curious are these really more comparable to the current Squier Deluxe series then they are the current vintage modified?
Really like the blackey, just trying to get some advance notice of what it might be like.
