Thinking about picking up a VM SSH. They remind me of Brent Mason and Scotty Anderson's pickup set up on their Teles, but obviously with lesser electronics. I figure a complete pickup switch might make these babies really zing!
Anyone comments or thoughts from anyone who owns one?
I just bought a VM HSS for my first electric. I really like the way it plays, but have no experience with electrics, it is more fun than my acoustic though. JR.com has the strat hss in gunmetal $50 cheaper than any place else I have found it. The only other electric I have ever played was a LP copy and the VM plays better than the old copy.
Edit: I guess I should have looked at the forum this is in, I have not ever touched the tele version.
I absolutely love my SSH, i did have a few modifications done:
fret edges needed to be filed, had a bone nut installed, REMOVED THE MIDDLE PICK UP (so i shoulda just got an SH), replaced the bridge pup with a Dimarzio...I love this guitar. Highly recommend it, but realize that you might just want to change a couple things...maybe not. Anyway...i love telling people it's made in India, kinda different. I think the Indian Red Cedar has a cool tone...also, the neck with maple fretboard is beautiful and a joy to play...the neck has quite a glossy finish, which i like...i know some want almost bare wood...hope this helps.
