Default Plans for my Tele Custom II mod project

I have long loved Telecasters. About 10 years ago, I had a black-on-black Hohner Telecaster Professional that I loved, but I sold it after my car wreck in 2002 because for a time it looked like I would never be able to play again. I really miss that guitar.

I have also always loved the Schecter Tele lookalikes that Pete Townshend played in the 1980s, such as this one:

So what came to mind was the idea of modifying a Squier Tele Custom II, something along these lines:

(Mockup done at yajimastringworks.com)
  • Bridge and tuners replaced with black hardware
  • Pickups replaced with EMG or other similar black humbuckers
  • Maybe a bit of relicing (don't crucify me!)
  • I'll probably replace the Custom II knobs with black barrel knobs as well.

Thoughts?

I dig it! (and I won't even crucify you for the relicing!)

I actually ran across the Custom (not II) today, which has humbuckers rather than P-90s. I think that'll be a better platform to work from, since it'll eliminate the necessity of enlarging the pickup routing.

The stock humbuckers in my custom sound awesome. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to replace with some black chrome covers. But active emg pickups sounds nice also.

I love my Custom also. Can you put a tremolo on them? Not a Bigsby 5. More like a Strat set up?

You'd have to rout out the body. And if I wanted a Strat trem, I'd play my Strat.

I would go more extreme . 3 humbucker with 3 toggle switches , Bigsby vibrato , 3 volume , 3 tone . Why ? Just because you can!!!

Mhm looks good... I'm excited
I find the bridge PUP a little lacking in range from the neck in my Tele Custom II. I'm sticking a HB in the bridge too.
