That's on my "someday" list. Either that one or the P90 version.
Nice. Just bought my boy a BSB Affinity. He already has a nice Peavey LTD Fat strat, but wanted a tele to go with it. And our other two strats and a 66 musicmaster.

I never really used to like them, but this year it seems like I can't stand seeing all the pictures of them and not owning one, that guitar and quite a few others seem to really be pulling at my heart right now. I get one new one only to find I need to find a new one to take its place.
I need to go to G.A.S.A (Gear Aquistion Syndrome Anonymous)

Its very much a modern instrument. A Humbucker sound with Tele edge. Great for phat blues rock or Metal.

but if nothing is broken and you're not playing with rewiring the PUPs in magic ways then there's no much point, sonny jim.

oh, except maybe the cap; an orange drop is never any harm with any stock guitar unless it's an antiquity.

Well the tone control for the bridge pickup never really worked so I figured just replace everything with better components while I'm in there and not have to ever worry about it again.

I have never really gelled with my Custom...
The Custom II is my number one and has been for some time. I think i just like the P90 bite over the hum buggies.

Tone works fine on mine. I can set the tone pots on 5 and add some edge when needed Volme control works too. The new ones might have better pots in.

I sold mine, did a Hendrix job on it; got my ProTone and had to liquidate.

I love these and plan to get one in the new year. Can you get tones as fat as a Les Paul from it? I want one for playing ZZ Top and AC/DC covers in my band that just don't quite sound full enough with my Squier Strat.

Me too. Here's my modded Custom II. Those are the stock DD P-90's, but with cream covers. Excellent P-90 tone IMHO.

Kid Klash--I love the color of your Custom, especially the pickguard. I have a used black on black arriving todya. I was thinking I was going to mod it by replacing rthe stock pickups with filtertrons, to mimic the La Cabronita, but I am hesitating a bit at this point.

Works well w/tube amp
Have one of these Squier Tele Customs as well bought from Guitar Center online last year (2008) on "Black Friday". I wasn't too enthused with it at first then my girl found an amp at a yard sale. I went out right away and wound up with a "like new" Crate "V" Series 1512 tube amp for $40.00 all it needed was a tightening of input jack, a wipe down with damp rag w/Fantastic and a treatment of Armor-All. Once done the amp looked as like it was just out of the box I plugged in my Squier Tele Custom and it came alive. Here I was considering a pickup change and other drastic measures when a decent tube amp was all I needed.

Thanks! Terrapin Guitars made the custom pickguard for me. If I was you, I'd keep the stock pickups in your guitar for a while and really get to know them. They're really responsive, and have a true P-90 tone. Fiddle around with the tone controls too, because even a slight change makes a big difference in the tone. I think you're going to love your new Custom II. Congrats!

I asked Santa (Crikey - I may have mis-typed - perhaps i wrote to Satan?!) for a Custom II.
But I have not been good, so ..
I just love P90's.
If there is one thing that I'd prefer on the Customs' it would be for a tint on the neck, most (not all) are anemic looking in hue.
But hey, fair enough for the money eh ...
And its not a hard job, even if.

I feel the same. Hope mine has a nice rich color to it. If not, I have about half a can of ReReanch neck amber and half a can of ReRanch clear laying around.

Squiers are such great platforms to mod! way cheaper than modding a fender...

Here is a pre Squier Tele Custom that I purchased in 1975. No branding other than the vintage Stagg logo and no "made in ..." marks. The only diference I can see with the current models is the truss rod cover. It has a nice fat sound and long sustain, it has needed no mods or repairs since new.
As the current models are meant to be reissues of vintage models, and as I have found no Fender tele Customs like this from the 70's, just maybe this is the original.

I played one with P90 pickups and it was not very good. A watered down weak sound. I have the same tunners on two other guitars and they do the job. I beat up on them time to time and it is always in tune. Do you know who makes them. Grover?

I'm not exactly sure who makes the tuners but if I had to guess than I would go with Gotoh. This guitar is a rocker for sure but it handles clean tones great as well. Congrats on the purchase, you got a great deal. Kevin

I know I love mine . Actually compared it to a Fender 72 Deluxe and preferred playing the Squier . Build quality was not as good as the Fender obviously but it is a better jammer . I then later pulled the hummers out for some GFS Retrotron Liverpools and now I think I'll never part from it . Thing sounds awesome . Just a bad@ss guitar . Especially for the money .
