Default standard tele special edition

hello,

is the standard tele special edition essentially the same as the standard tele, except for the chrome guard and other cosmetic changes? same pups? i'm wondering since there seems to be a five thousand peso price difference between the two. looked at the squier site specs and those seem to be the only differences.

thanks,
ldr

hey bro, its dreamingtele here from TDPRI..

I do believe that the difference between the two is cosmetic... I have tried the Squier Standards, and they do rock for the price.. I really like the neck.. it's thick and smooth... you might need a little time to get used to it because you've been playing the peavey gen exp teles for quite some time now... and it's neck is very slim compared to the squier standard.. but i find it very comfortable...

my only gripe about the standards is that I'm more of a maple fretboard guy and I'm not liking the rosewood fretboard.. and the frets are not that great out of the box like the peavey tele's and the squier classic vibe.. I'm interested in the Squier standards too for a nice esquier or a back up to put new pickups on and etc...

I had one of the chrome ones and absolutely loved it.. I will say one thing about the Squiers though.. They need to have pickups closer to the genuine Fender Teles though. I have noticed that the Squier ones tend to be a little muddy when it comes to pickups.

I agree though the neck on this thing is AWESOME as far as thickness and playability. I had no fret issues with mine at all.
This is the one you are looking at?

Yeah those were from my stagemaster. I liked the feel of those better. I am thinking of getting another one now. I sold one over 2 years ago.
