Default Just got a few ?'s.

Okay,so sometime this week,i'm hoping tomorrow i'm gonna be getting a new to me guitar. I just got a few questions so i'll know what to look for.You guys seem to know a lot more about Squiers then i do.From what i've read on here what they mean by full size body is the thickness right? What models have the best playing necks? Also is the standard the only one with the large head on it.I really like the big heads. My stepdad has a Fender, and i know it's not an original 70's model, but i love it.It's just looks clear coated with a maple neck, and white p/g.Anyway,i think the one's they have are newer models. They have a Wayne's World strat too. Will any strat p/g work on all the squiers? Not really concerned with screw holes matching up.They had a couple std,a couple Affs,1 bullet. There is a couple other places i can go also, just would like to know what you guys have, and what you guys would buy.I'm into all kinds of music, and i guess my playing style is a cross of metal, grunge, and blues.Mostly metal though.Any help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Was also wondering if any of them came routed out for humbuckers.I think they have one fat strat there also

I could have sworn i started this in the Strat section

Yes, the full size body refers to the thickness, both the standards,VM's and CV line retain the original thickness of the original Fender strat, some models like the standards use the 70's big headstock, not all, refer to the Squier homepage for that info.

I was little at a Squier earlier,it was an Affy.It had the big headstock, and had a humbucker at the bridge. It was made in China. Here is the serial number maybe you guys can tell me alittle more about it.

CY08021210

It's like a real dark blue.I'm gonna try to find a pic.

Oh yeah, and mods i was wondering if you could move this to the Strat section

Here is what the Strat looked like.

I don't know as much about the affinity's, but they do have the thinner body style which can impact some mods, but it seems like a lot of guys like them. All of the Standards, SE's and Affinity's I've opened all have routing for a bucker in the bridge, although there may be a few older styles that do not. Now the SE's do not have the big headstock, so you have your Affinity's and Standards, in my mind if you can find a standard it would be the way to go. As to the pick guards most should match but you will more than likely need to re pilot the holes. Wikipedia Squier and you can find out info on your SN.

If you like to play metal then you probably need humbucking pickups, at least one.

Affinity guitars are a little smaller than others. You might play a few guitars in a music store and decide what fits your hand best. I think shredder (metal) guitars tend to be a little smaller so they can be played faster.

Attached is my picture of my Affinity, It's got the big head and a violet color that I really like.

If you like whammy bar stuff - Van Halen and Dimebag type playing then you might play some guitars with a Floyd Rose tremolo system and locking nut. It's probably more than what you need now.

You might read the heavy metal threads http://www.squier-talk.com/forum/heavy-metal-thunder/

Ibanez makes some good guitars for metal style also, you might look at them too.

I can say with all certainty that not all the Squiers use the same pickguard. I have a 99 Stagemaster that uses a short pickguard and 8 screw holes where my standard and the affinity I have use an 11 hole full size pickguard.

The one that you looked at is a Chinese made Affinity from 2008.
