Default Headstock reshaping

I'm itching to build a real cheapo-Telecaster and have started checking the local equivalent to CL/Ebay for a used neck. I want to keep the cost down, so I'm neglecting the overseas market. There's usually not much offered however, and there seem to go like 10 Strat necks for every Tele neck. So I was wondering if it's possible to reshape a Strat headstock into a Tele shape, i.e. is there wood enough to allow for this...?

Should be enough wood. I think I've seen it done before.

To be on the safe side you might want to start with one of the big CBS style headstocks, those have a bit more material to work with.

Strat fretboards are rounded and tele fretboards are straight. Not sure if that matters to you.

Thank You fellow Squierers, for the helpful input. And thanks Dread, for the link, great info there.
Obviously there are some important details to keep in mind. My plan is to make the body from scratch, using some cheap pieces of pine, so I'll be able to rout the neck pocket for whichever neck I get my hands on. Well, I should say "chisel" instead of "rout", since my tool arsenal is both limited and primitive!
It will probably be a somewhat crude looking instrument...
