NGD not Squier...
Picked up an MIM Standard today, nice guitar. but other than the switches and pots, I can't say it is any better than my Indo Standard Squier. Same weight, necks almost identical, less poly on the Indo. same string spacing. The indo tuners do not say Fender, but somehow they stay in tune.

Thanks for posting. Interesting information.
I think I would use higher priced instruments for recording, because that's when I hear subtle differences in tone and (less) noise. If I was on the road I might use a higher priced instrument because replacement parts are likely widely available for Fender Telecasters and Stratocasters, not sure about other brands. For regular practice and jamming with people I use an intermediate grade guitar such as a Squier.

It was interesting to me that the string spacing was the same. The Standard Strat necks are narower than an MIA or an MIM., but the teles looked identical. The bridge on the MIM does use 4 screws and the Squier uses 3, but that is probably an easy fix, and how often does a bridge get messed up any way, maybe the saddles, but these would probably be interchangeable for the most part. I couldn't hear any difference in noise, but I am definitely upgrading the components and wiring on the Squier, at that point I can't say that one would be better than the other.

Was just playing and checking out an MIM at the local store and the pots and hardware seem to be of less quality than my Squier Tele, and considerately less than my mIJ and MIA.Prefer the Squier for the money.
