Best Squier Tele ?
I'm really wanting one of these J5's. I think they are sleepers, and if they discontinue them before they catch on, they'll be sought after imo.

I'll admit I've never heard of him before. Seems like a pretty versatile player though, and a nice, humble dude. Just more proof that you can't judge a book by it's tattoos, piercings, and goth clothes.

I never heard of John 5 either, I'm just digging the tone and specs of the guitar. It even sounds sort of like a Tele if you want it to.
First 20 seconds of this demo are kid of cool.

John5 looks nice IMO...
Love a neck humbucker in a tele, just put an Dimarzio Humbucker from Hell(DP156) and a Nocaster Custom Shop bridge in mine, Dimarzio Twangbucker is also pretty much the same thing as the Nocaster, I could'nt tell much of a difference. Mine's a Peavey Generations Tele.

Looks good. Matte guard is cool. I'll google the HFH and find some clips.
I just sold what I thought was the best solid body electric I've owned since I switched from bass. I sold my '04 MIM Tele to fund that Godin LG P90 I just couldn't pass on. No way I'll loose money on it, and I made a little on the tele. I just want a strat, a P90, both of which I have now, and a dual hb guitar.
I don't care for the traditional tele switch position, but I dig the shape and feel of a tele. That's where the J5 begins to appeal to me so much. With both pots being volume, the kill switch option is cool, and that space on the control plate looks like a good place for a mini toggle or two down the road.
Double bound bod and painted head stock w/the chrome logo to match the guard, and even has a vintage round string tree I can't shred nor want to, but I want it to write some classic rock inspired riffs and I think I'd dig doing it with a J5. I bet the tone is there in the stock pups, or close enough.

The humbucker from hell is a little misleading as it's a low output humbucker so it works well with strats and teles.

To be a real tele to me it needs that twangy tele bridge pickup. So I don't think it will sound like a tele. I would like to try one to see if it had any tele feel at all. That said most squiers are good guitars so I'd expect it to play well. I am a big fan of the affinity bsb. They play way better than seems rational. If you get one give us a review.

I have a J5 body on ebay for sale. Ends today. These are dbl bound black beauties, but I prefer the twangers myself and didn't want to mess up a J5 with Std Tele pups, so it is for sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...STRK:MESELX:IT

I dont like much of John 5s music, but gave him the benefit of the doubt, as he is a great collector of guitars, an appreciater of the Telecaster, and a damn fine chicken-pickin player too. I interviews he came across as a level headed guy with a love of music and guitars
Then I saw a clip of him playing on some stage somewhere. He plays a song using one of his Squier Signature models, and then proceeds to smash it up on stage.
Rather lame IMO
My benefit of the doubt evaporated at that point.
