Default Tele Model Question?

What's the better deal?

Affinity Tele for $119 (butterscotch w/maple)
or
Standard Tele for $149 (unknown color)

With the Standard you get the thicker body, but I think they are only available in rosewood necks.

If a rosewood board will suit you, go for the Standard. They tend to be more consistent in fit and finish and sound very good stock with a string thru body as well. Both have the cheaper dime pots/switch and import style bridge plate, but the Standard just feels more solid. The Affinity has a 41mm nut where the Standard is 42mm. If you have bigger hands, the Affinity neck may feel cramped. You really should play both and decide. An extra $30 for the Standard is gonna be cheaper than the mods you'll probably want to immediately perform on the Affinity. The prices you stated are pretty much in line with what I have seen them selling on CL and in pawn shops. Check out this sound clip of a stock Standard.

I love my BSB. I didn't really notice the thinner body but I mostly play strats. I liked the look when I saw it but after playing it I loved the look and the feel. I have a std strat thats damn nice but not a tele. The std is sure to be good but I find the BSB's very consistant and outstanding looking/playing. If you like the look go for it and save a few bucks.
