CV or VM Thinline???
My next Tele is going to be a Thinline. Just wanted some opinions from CV and VM Thinline owners.
Thanks!

The two are very different beasts. Both are bright and clean though.
The CV is lighter, with a nice mahogany grain body. The neck is standard scale, 9.5" radius, heavily poly'd in high gloss with vintage tuners. If you sweat a lot, you can suffer stiction on the poly neck. I haven't experienced it too badly, but apparently steel wool can remove the gloss nicely, if need be. The stock pickups are excellent. They seem to have a great dynamic range with no tendency to compress. It has the three saddle bridge so the intonation is approximate. Stringwise I currently have 9.5's on mine. The 9's it came with were a bit loose, and 10's are bit tight for me on a 25.5" scale.
The VM is heavier with either a black or gold finish. The gold looks like pink or blue or green under the lights. It's very cool. The finish is very thin though and chips easily. The neck has a matte finish, 7.25" radius, 24.75" Gibson scale. 10's feel like 9.5's on it. I personally love the neck on it. The pickups are jangly. I would say they are not as good as the CV stock pickups but they are not too bad. I upgraded mine. It has a six saddle bridge. It doesn't have conductive shielding paint in the cavities like the CVs do. It suffers static buildup on the pickguard so aluminum tape needs to be applied on the underside. It costs about 20% less than the CV.
I love both of these guitars and am glad I have both.
My Dislikes:
CV: the glossy neck, the pearloid pickguard
VM: the thinness of the finish, the weight
My Likes:
CV: the overall package, the balance, the weight, the feel, the sound
VM: the feel, the neck, the look of the finish

Well I only ever picked up one VM a gold one . I didn't care for the finish or the feel of the guitar.
I did get the CV thinline last thusday and love it to death. can't find a thing wrong with it or a thing that I dislike about it.

I got my gold VM thinline about 2 years ago because it was cheap, never played it alot as I wasn't keen on the sound, however it was lovely looking and played nicer than my Strats.
Not so long ago I picked it up again and started playing about with the volume and tone and I haven't been able to put it down since!
Everything about this guitar is good, the finish is excellent. On some settings the neck p-up seems a bit ear piercing but maybe this is normal with a tele? Its a good deal with Duncan designed P-ups but the guitar is better for blues etc, not really a heavy rock guitar!
I never ever noticed the shorter scale length until I read it somewhere but its still easy to play as usually I don't like the shorter scale length on Les Pauls but on the VM it feels just right.
The CV looks nice but can't comment on its sound, wish the VM had the maple fretboard like the CV. I guess i'll not get a CV as i've already got the VM

I went the the VM Thinline. As Telepicker pointed out, there are some physical differences that will probably guide you more than the aestetics. The only changes I plan at this point to the VM is to tone the finish on the neck and shield the cavities. I don't get the static build-up on the p/g, but if you do, you can add the aluminum tape or just occasionally rub the p/g with a dryer sheet...
The neck was the seller for me with the VM, and I am content with the stock pups.

Ya another point of interest on the CV is the guard is fully shielded with foil, and shielded with paint & grounded in the cavs.
Just sayin is all.
