Korean Squier Tele
What can anyone tell me about the Korean made Squire Telecasters?
How are they quality wise as far as body, electronics, hardware, etc.?
I'm looking at one on eBay with s/n VN6XXXXX
Thanks!

The popular belief is that the first character in the serial number refers to the factory. We know that a first letter of C refers to Cort, and it is popularly believed that a first letter of S refers to Samick, and a first letter of V probably refers to Vester. Those made by Cort are the most desirable. The second character refers to the decade: N represents Nineties (1990's). And the first number following is the year. So, for example "CN6" = made by Cort in 1996.

I assume it's a similar serial to the Strats, and my two MIK Strats are VN5, which is 1995. They are plywood bodies, but sound good and have good necks. The elecrtronics in the Strat are pretty bad. Dime-sized 500k pots and a very flimsy selector switch. The pickups are ok.

I had a 1992 Strat and it was plywood (and not the plywood you buy at home depot, it is ply tonewood.) The ply does make it a little lighter than the 3 piece bodies and that was a plus. I had intended to use it for parts, but I sold it because it needed some work and I didn't like the flat red color, I like candy apple red. The neck was OK, but not nice like what you find on the Squier CVs.
In addition to needing possibly fret work, the tremolo cavity was cut so deep there was a hole between the tremolo cavity on the back and the routing on the front. Yes I could see thru the guitar.
It did sound decent, but nothing to write home about. I think the Squiers being made today are better than my 1992 Korean made strat.
You probably can't do this with a guitar on eBay, I always evaluate the actual guitar rather than the hype about where the guitar is made.

Hi, I'm new here. I have an MIK E serial number and heard it was made '84 or '85. This is a good quality build guitar and it has the translucent vintage cream color and you can see the wood grain. I really like this guitar.
