Hey Mexican Squier Strats Guys, show your stuff!
Here's some so-so pics of my '98 standard. This was the first guitar I bought when I decided to start playing again (after 10 years). I was gonna leave it like it was but, y'all know how it is. Callaham bridge assembly, and block. Grover tuners. Lace pups (blue/silver/red),CTS pots, CRL 5-way switch, and a blender pot.

hey wait! that bridge!!!!!!!!!
i'm going nuts right now!!!!
I have been going a little overboard trying to find out where the body from my current heralded from. My only breadcrumbs were that it's: made of 4 pc maple, that it was laminated between two bits of alder veneer and it's got that very bridge!
Hooray I have a lead!!!!!
Might it be a Mexican Squier then?
Is there such thing as a solid maple 4pc mexican squier that for something reason was sandwiched by alder which i've only seen done with alder bodies?
------time for an e-breath-------

The bridge/block assembly in mine are all from Callaham Guitars. The originals were the worst! All pot metal including but not limited to, the bridge saddles. I still think these Squier Strats were the precursor to the present day Fender MIMs. A lot of parallels, but that's just MHO.

I got this guitar on Craigslist along with a case and a small Marshall amp from the original owner for $100. Sold the amp for $45, so the net cost to me for the guitar and case was $55. The original owner played it maybe 5 times. I have 2 MIM Fender Standard Strats as well, along with a Made in Korea Fender "Squier Series" Strat , and this MIM Squier is equal in quality to them all. These are some other Torino Reds around. I don't know that they are all that rare. But mine is great.

Looks like they made a boatload of changes during the '90s. That body on yours (H-S-S), is even routed different from mine which is an (H-S-H) config. But looks like you have the same ceramic pups, and pot metal tremolo block that originally came in mine too.

I've owned a number of the MIM Squier Series guitars, 3-4 Strats and one Tele. Here's the only pics I can find at the moment...

the title of this thread confused me for a moment...because I own a Mexican Squier...and I'm a Mexican who owns a Squier (or 5). I guess I'm a Mexican Squier Strat Guy squared.

peskypesky,
No, I never changed pups. Like I said I don't get on with red so I sold it off.
Yours is nice and a good price. Too bad someone wasn't secure enough in their manhood to handle the "Squier Series" logo on the headstock. Kinda kicks it down a notch IMHO.

yep i agree. whoever tried to sand off the Squier logo is a douche, IMO. but in a weird way, it makes me even more affectionate for my guitar. like it's been abused, and now i can give it a good home where it will be loved for what it is.

Here's my '94 MIM Squier Series Strat. Found it last week on the local CL for $140 with the SKB case and El-Cheapo stand. All it needed was a good set-up, which I did last night. I don't think this thing ever got played... As far as I can tell, it's all original and in mint condition except for a tiny ding below the bridge.
I'd love to know what kinds of mods you guys are doing to these guitars... does anybody know if the 70's Fender tuning machines fit the existing holes?

Evening all, first post as well, so hello
Here's my MIM Squier Series, about £120 on ebay a while ago, pups swapped out for a set of Wilkinson and a Wlikinson big steel block trem. Soon to undergo full on Gilmour-isation
