Bullet vs SX Hawk ultra?
I'm still undecided on my first strat.
I've been thinking of getting either a Squier Bullet or one of Rondo music's SX Hawk ultra's.
I was wondering if anyone here has any experience's with one or both of these guitars?
The pickup's and control's quality doesn't matter a whole lot to me as I'm probably going to end up upgrading them regardless of which guitar I go with.
The neck and body however are the main two selling points to me.
I'm just wondering what the main differences are?
And does anyone here have a strong preference of one over the other?
And if so, why?
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
Eric

SX!
The neck is glossy and has a skunk stripe. Feels like a classic vibe. The body is solid and you normally have more choices in color and you can get maple or rosewood neck on any color available.
I've played both and the sx is a way better option, IMO, since it's cheaper but feels better to me.
Got mine for 99 with a bag.

No. Wish I had gotten that model, though. Mine is standard SS setup. I think I'll eventually get a hum setup though. That stock hummer is sweet sounding.

Well the SX is probably gonna need a lot more work to get it playable. I own several SX's and although they are descent guitars for the money they all need a fair amount of TLC out of the box. The last strat I bought was a bullet and all I had to do was tune it out of the box (I was surprised). Another thing to consider is that the SX has a chunky neck that is not very Fender. The Bullets neck is all fender. On the flip side the SX has a standard size Strat body where as the Bullet body is smaller. I also think the pickups sound better than the Squiers at this price point. To me guitar this cheap are all about the necks so the Squier wins. I also think over all Squier has better QC.

I agree completely with bassbubble. The neck means everything. SX can't touch Squier in the neck dept. Own both. Only play the Squier.

That depends on ones' preferences. I much prefer the SX necks to the Squier necks. So, for me, the Squier can't touch the SX in the neck dept.
All four of my Rondo guitars (three SX and one Agile LP copy) have been very playable out of the box. My most modded guitar is my Squier, and I own Squier, SX, Agile, Jay Turser and Epi guitars. The Agile was $179 new and is at least the equal (I think better) of an Epi LP Standard that is about three times the price.
The SX strat has a full sized alder or ash body, depending on model. My SX tele (alder body) is my number one guitar and it was $109 new.

Caddy is correct that it is really preference concerning necks. You really need to find someone who has a SX and play theirs if you can. Then go to any music shop and try out a Squier. It's your choice.
