Default Help With Decoding A Serial Number.....

For the life of me i cant find the info im looking for to decode this serial#.
It is a Squier Standard Strat. The serial is CY30410523. Its pretty cool looking. A blue that ive never seen on a Strat with matching headstock. All hardware is black. Suppose to be NOS. Still has plastic on the pickguard.

Any ideas? I know, ya wanna see some pics to help figure it out. Pics below.

Thanks!!

I just realized you don't need any of this below. Lol
Sounds almost like a Stagemaster. Does it have a reversed headstock? I don't think it would be a Stagemaster, I think they came out in 99. If you have a picture that would be great. Wait is this it, A Showmaster: http://www.elderly.com/vintage/items...1993_front.jpg

Chinese & Taiwanese Squiers

YN: Y = Yako (Taiwan), N = Nineties (1990s), the first number following the serial number prefix is the year.

For example

"YN5" = made by Yako in 1995.

CY: C = China, Y = Yako (Taiwan), the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year.

For example

"CY97" = made by Yako in 1997.

CY, COS, or COB serials are usually used on Crafted in China Squiers. Some Chinese made Gretsch guitars also have a CY serial number.

Miscellaneous Chinese serials: CD, CT, CJ, NC: C = China, the first number following the serial number prefix is the year. Probably made by Yako (Taiwan). The plant from which the COB serial number prefix models originate remains a mystery. No documentation, or comment from the manufacturer has resolved the question of which plant produced them.

Some Squiers that are sold only in the Chinese and Asian markets are made by Axl in China, these guitars usually have the serial number starting with CXS; with the 'X' standing for 'Axl'.

Squier Classic Vibe series guitars/basses serial numbers start with CG. eg. CGSxxxxxxx

Its not a Stagemaster or a Showmaster. Does not have a reverse headstock. Headstock just says Squier Stratocaster. Standard Series.

2003. the 2 point trem means it was built in 2000 at the earliest and some of the CY squiers only have a one number year code.

Not the right color But it says "Limited" and has a 20th anniversary neck plate. I don't think that plate should be on there. I have to check. http://elderly.com/vintage/items/30U-15703.htm

Found it at a music store. They did not know how old it was. Just that it had been there forever. Just a few pick marks on the plastic over the pickguard from people strumming it in the store. Im thinking Stratphobic is correct. A 2003.

Ive never seen one this color. Its a solid color, no metallic. Hopefully someone on here will have seen one or knows some more history on it.

The neck plate says Squier/Fender on it.

thanks, that question has popped up a couple times on squier talk.

I wish I could find the other half of that add page though.

these guitars were all limited editions, they made bullets, affinties, and standards. I think they all had black hardware, and more brilliant colors.

the bullets are the most common to see, one humbucker, and I see alot of the silverburst standards too

Yes on ebay I've seen a few Bullets like that. Well even if you had half a page you did good. I was thinking the more people change the color of a squier and trade necks, It may become pretty hard for someone to find out what year their body is etc. Lol I wonder how many aren't original all stock.
