If you could pick up a....
Starcaster for $25, would you?
I haven't seen a pic yet, but it's at a local MGR as-is so I called.
He says it has a strat-style headstock, maple neck and board, SSS. He says there's a little crud on the bridge but he can take it off with his fingernail. Other than that, it looks to be in great shape. Oh, and he can't find any markings indicating where/when it was made.
Whaddya think? Should I go take a look?

Well, for another $25.00 you could probably buy a Bullet or SE.

I can usually find good deals here, I bought my Bullet from CL for $35.00. At a musicians swap meet there was a Squire Affinity strat going for $75.00. Fender MIM's usually can be had for $235.00 at the swap meet.

Someone on here picked one up a while back and it had Alnico pups in it. Seems like it may have had a full size body as well.
Would be a good mod platform for cheap.

The maple neck is nice and fat The neck alone is worth $25.

That was me. It does have a full size body. Mine had the arrowhead headstock, so I replaced the neck with one from an older Affinity. I'd jump on it for $25. Here's how mine turned out:

I would buy it for $25,
I have a friend that re-fuses to put down any money for an electric guitar but loves to play them.
sad story actually, he used to own a usa big apple stratocaster made sometime in the 90s, it was stolen out of his house/apment back in 2004ish. he has not had an electric since.
so I would really like to give him one, if I could find one dirt cheap, I wouldn't want to spend more then $35-40 bucks though, and I dont want to give him a piece of crap either so anything with scrathy pots that dont clean up after a setup are not candidates.
he is picky and I will not stand to listen to him complain about a scratchy pot on a guitar he got for free. the guitar would have to be very playable too, wich most squiers are

Well I went to MGR this over lunch today and they sold it before I got there. They had it for 3 weeks before I found it online and they sold it 2 hours before I got to it. Funny how things work out.
However, they had an absolute boatload of nice Squiers there ranging from $60 to $159. Easily 30 of them. Bullets (new and original), Affiity and Standards. I didn't see any VM or CV's, but there was plently of mod fodder.
