deeeeluxe in daphne blue
hello all you squier lovers,
I just ordered a brand new squire deluxe strat in daphne blue on saturday from sweetwater and am eagerly and impatiently awaiting its arrival. I have been doing as much research as I can and I thought I read somewhere that the deluxe squier strats are or were made in indonesia, however I also read something somewhere else saying the indonesia factory closed and now the deluxe's are made in china? can anyone clarify this?
I went ahead and ordered the guitar before finding out this info because they look so freaking sweet I couldnt stop myself haha. It doesnt really make a difference to me where its made but its nice to know the details

I don't know if they're made in China now, but I suspect You're going to be more than happy with it in any case, I've only heard good things about the deluxes. And the Daphne is a gorgeous colour!

All of the 2010's I've seen are still made in Indonesia. Congratulations by the way. You have excellent taste in guitars. Once you play that Deluxe, you won't want to play anything else because it's so comfortable.

I bought my daphne blue deluxe last year and love it. It was my first outside of the gibson/epi guitars and have bought several strat/strat styles since. It is a great guitar, and one I reach for more often than any other I own.

I got two of the first Deluxes in Canada. My local shop is a Fender custom shop dealer and they get them in pretty quick. These were really early in the run but both had loose/stripped screws in the input jack. They are made from Basswood, and the screws were stripped. My tech "redowled" them and reset the screws. They are very solid now. I had him do a pro setup on both, and I used 9 D'Addarios on the Daphne, and 9.5s on the Pearl I really think the 9.5s work the best.
Other than the input jacks I have had no other issues. I have personally purchased 3 of the Pearl and one of the Daphne Deluxes for friends who could not get them at their local shops.

thanks for the replys and information guys! I am expecting it to arrive tomorrow and since I live in a big apt building that doesnt have an intercom system in my apt I will be waiting outside all day till fedex arrives haha. I dont want to take the chance of it being kicked around the truck another day or two. How many of you have installed a 3rd trem spring? any other good simple mods recommended?

I use a 3rd trem spring on my Deluxe because the floating setup out of the box is way too light with just 2. I would recommend no other mods because the guitar is excellent just the way it is. I actually undid all my mods (mostly cosmetic) because I liked the guitar better stock. If you really want to do something to it, try a nice relic job by playing it non-stop. Trust me, it's really that good! And yes, the neck is a one-piece maple with a skunk stripe. Hope your Deluxe arrives today. Enjoy!

got the guitar in this morning and i havent put it down since!! what a great value. The body fit and finish as far as i can tell is immaculate and the neck is unbelievable. I cant say enough good things about the neck, and the fretboard is nice and smooth and ready to be worn down by nonstop playing. my useless no name 15w amp is on its deathbed and wont even turn on now so I am gonna go pick up a roland cube next week so I can plug this thing in and really play it. Im really satisfied with the guitar and like Gordon24 I think im gona leave mine stock. I dont see any need to upgrade or change anything at this time (other than throw the 3rd spring on there) Gonna get it setup by a good tech down the street since its been awhile since i had a tremolo equipped guitar and I dont wana tweak anything out by getting overzealous. I look forward to playing this guitar and with that said im gona get back to it

HNGD!!!
i'm glad you're loving the strat, and i had a feeling you would from all the rave reviews of it i read.
we need some photos, though!
i want a daphne blue strat too and i love the look of this one with the all maple neck.
and as for the Roland, i was just playing my brother's Cube and I really liked it. i ESPECIALLY like the acoustic setting. a strat sounds beautiful with that setting.

You will never regret buying this guitar. I bought mine because of the people on this site giving it such high ratings. I got the Pearl White. Only change was to add the 3rd spring. I do plan on getting the brass trem. block from GF, but other than that no changes.....ever! Happy NGD. Let us see pics!

hey guys, i tried posting up some pics but having issues with file size. im gona try again a little later this afternoon, in other news i have been playing this guitar for about 4 hrs a day since I got it haha. I also havent brought it in to be setup yet because it plays so well Im not sure I want anyone to mess with it haha. I figure ill wait until the strings need to be changed and ill get it done then. Ill be trying again to post those pics shortly. Btw ive been playing through a little danelectro honeytone portable amp I picked up for 15 bucks and it sounds great for a tiny little amp! and the colors pretty cool on it too!

How do you like the Honeytone? I'm thinking about picking one up after reading some great things about them. Of course I want the blue one that almost matches my Deluxe!

I'll be getting a Pearl White one my self soon. I really need to see a Daphne Blue one in person before I order though.
I thought I wanted a CV60's Strat but don't like the glossy neck. I did my homework on the Deluxe here and it looks perfect.

There is a Deluxe Owners thread. Over half of the pics there are of the Daphne. Of course I am saving my money because I want one of those to keep my Pearly company.

I love the honeytone...its a small practice amp for sure and its kinda thin sounding but for 20 bucks I dont think it can be beat. The overdrive is kinda silly cause it turns to fuzz when its up to high. But for a practice amp for my apartment it fits the bill perfect. It also comes with a little guide to help you get certain tones which is somewhat helpful even if some of the sounds are kinda the same.

I bought one of these off ebay last week. I was the only bidder (always good) and paid AUD$329. I think the rrp is about AUD$699
It's a 2008, and seems to be a bit corroded in places (pickup poles and saddle screws), but I don't care. In fact, when I buy a used guitar I like it to be a bit beat up so I don't feel so preciuos about it. As long as the 'damage' doesn't affect the functionality.
After some payment issues, it should be arriving the day after tomorrow.
Oh, and it's a Daphne Blue, by the way :-D
I will post pics by the end of the week.

Mine was AUD$329, which is about USD$300, give or take.
They are probably much cheaper in the States.

We pay more than that for an Affinity here!
Heck, the RRp for a Bullet is AUD$229 (about USD$205)

It looks like Guitar Center has a used one for $219.00. That sounds about right used.

Here she is...
The finish is perfect, with hardly any scratches, but it seems the previous owner was a bit of a sweater. The upper 5 frets are corroded and the neck was dirty all over. The bridge saddle screws are also rusted, with one of the D saddle screws rusted solid.
Some of the frets feel 'scratchy' when bending, but in all the guitar feels great (if unusual, weird neck profile) to play, and the pickups sound wonderful.
The guitar will probably remain stock, which is rare for me, although I may replace some of the rusted screws...
