I have an M-80 and it is a very, very nice guitar. Well made, solid, great tone.

nice, yeah I would pick one up if I found it for a good deal, any one of those guitars look pretty nice

The Squier models that y'all are talking about are basically based on Korean imports of Guild design (not Gibson copies as some say) after Fender bought out Guild in 1995. I believe they were also sold for a time under the DeArmond name which Fender also now owns.
Check out some of these to see what I'm talking about as far as the Guilds these Squiers were based on...

I had that same red epi but in black as a first store bought guitar way back in 1987.

I haven't seen anything that says for sure, but it appears that they didn't sell well and it was a fairly short time before the plug was pulled on them. Stock may have lingered in stores a while after that though.
