UPDATE!
Nut:
Very, very bad. I finally gave in and said "F*ck it. This thing is awful, the High E string is totally out of whack BIN IT!!!"
So I need to make another nut or buy one... bit of a waste of that Ivory...
Action:
Oh, so lovely... so lovely... sooo soooooo lovely... UNTIL... BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
11th fret buzzes and downwards. Frets are level but if you can tell at all by the pictures, the MM Neck has a HUGE overhang. It's the whole chunkiness of the Rosewood fingerboard plus a mm of the Maple beneath it. But it all fits nicely! What it seem like I should do is raise the bridge or shave a couple of mms off the Neck pocket and the overhang.
Tuners:
Split posts are annoying. Pretty but that's kinda it. Gonna see if there's a solution.

Now I gotta find the time to talk to Mike in person to sort it... damn College...
Yes. I'm in College now.

I was kind of wondering what happened to you, I guess you were busy at school. BTW, as complicated as that wiring looks, it's no small wonder it doesn't work right off the bat, keep at it.

Actually the wiring works perfect. I didn't have to do anything about that. I had mysterious issues with my Strat '51 project but that was due to a switch more so than my fault... not that I am not capable of screwing up completely, I am, I just haven't screwed up this Project electronically... it's just physical...
SO. As I have done with anything I obsess about, I am going to research, learn and become at least something more skilled than an amateur because I'm a b*stard perfectionist *sshole.
Busy at school, yes... College... I got so stressed and worked up I got work fatigue and went into a state of suspended animation to which no one could awaken me. A man with a chainsaw almost got me in my sleep, whilst a man with a claw in my dream gave me a nasty sharp slap that awoke me to evening the next day.
Although I did join the College's "School of Rock"... although actually it bares practically no resemblance but then again it feels patronizing from an actual school that has absolutely nothing to do with music... literally... no Music program... or any recognition of Pop icons in Pop Art... it sucks being smarter than most or even all of my peers...
HAPPY FACE
Keeping at it

LOL
Well the action is good, a temporary nut is in but it doesn't fit the slot as best as it could. It's very playable and sounds fantastic...
But...
As the Nut Slot is not a perfect fit yet I feel I could have more sustain. So refining the slot and getting a new nut are on the agenda. I'm also getting a persistent buzz on the 11th fret for apparently no reason. Everything seem 100% which means for now it's a persistently annoying mystery like when people tell you something is "on the side"...
For now, I'm waiting as I'm in no rush as it's not serious enough. Plus my Tele is producing some awesome sounds
On that note, I've been meaning to take some pics of the finished products that don't suck. I'm also thinking about other projects which I plan to post once I think I have enough material to get people interested Attention seeking!? For shame!

So...
More pics soon...

About "The Buzz"
I had a similar problem with my first strat. It turns out that after re-installing the neck I had overtightened the screws just slightly, or they were threaded through the body and wouldn't let the neck sit flush with the body.
What I did was I took a large , firm car wash sponge and laid the body face down on it while it was still strung up and tuned, then kneeled on the back just below the neck plate and loosened all the screws in the neck plate.
I though I broke it, it did the "Ping" thing that someone here categorically has termed it. I forget which thread that's in, but essentially when putting a neck back on they use a method of getting the rig in tune, then loosening the neckscrews about 1/4 - 1/2 turn each until the neck will "Ping" into the socket.
Anyway. I didn't break anything, I just hadn't heard about the ping thing before. But after reading about that and the fact that you should drill the holes in the body at the neck connection out a little bit I think that was my problem. The screws being threaded through the body didn't allow the neck to sit tightly in the pocket so I reefed them down hard, in doing so I think I pushed the fret wire up somehow. After I got the neck seated correctly it still buzzed, mine was on the 13'th fret only on the thin 3 strings, so I unstrung them and used a block of oak and a hammer to tap the fret wires down into the neck a few taps each. I don't know if that is the right way to go about fixing things like that but it worked and I haven't had anymore problems with it since.

Long time since I posted anything...
This project has been really good recently, plays well.... except for the ****ty bridge...
I'm considering a revised edition using only one switch but I'm unsure as to wether I should completely ditch the 3 push/pulls or if I should simply keep everything as is a make a new setup on another scratchplate.
Wiring wise I know that a revised version would have:
-A Jazzy setting based on a Broadcaster/Nocaster/Esquire types.
-Auto tap for the Bridge HB.
-Neck On with bridge as a single coil as a Tele "twang" kinda mode.
-Some sort of a Peter Green LP setting.
-The Bridge would have No Tone control, instead I'm thinking of having the 3rd Knob be a variable resistor in the Broadcaster/Nocaster/Esquire setting. The idea being so I can dial it down for a Cleaner sound even when I have my Dist. on; much like many Guitarists used to do in the 60s before footswitchable channels on your amp were standard, numerous and affordable.
What do you guys think?
Shall I make a revised edition?
BTW I'm thinking of buying a Classic Player body with the Brigde, that means it'll be possible for me to make a revised edition as a separate Guitar so I'd have 2 versions of it!
EDIT: Actually I really like that idea (he typed as if he was thinking aloud)... I could have 2 of these Uber Strats! ... methinks the revised one will benefit from stealing a Squier Jazzmaster Neck... mmmmmmmmm yummy...
What do you think?

Actually, 2 of them is excessive... I'm going to get a new Bridge... maybe a better body and make a new wiring harness and keep the old one somewhere as a piece of history.. maybe I'll put it in some Squier Bullet many years from now...

OK!
UPDATE:
All goes well here. I've come into some money so I'm constructing my own dream machine using this as the template or inspiration or whatever.
This dream machine will replace this current project as the two right now are like siamese twins... and I'm cutting them in twain leaving one without some vital organs...
To see the(hopefully) final evolution of this pseudo '54 superstrat monster see this thread:
http://www.squier-talk.com/forum/tec...hopefully.html
PS:It's not there yet... at least not at the time of me typing this. The pics will flow into that thread in time. In the meantime, enjoy the other projects featured there.
