Changin' pups in my Jagmaster
I have been playin' my Jagmaster for several days now through every amp that I have and I just don't like those pups,so I've got these comin' from Guitar Fetish. The demos sounded like what I'm after, hope so.I've also gotta do something with that sick whammy bar.Dunno yet..Man this neck is really nice.I can play for hours without hand fatigue, not so with some of the others..We'll see...

I have those in a Tele clone I have. It has a pretty rich sound. I've never tried them in my Jagmaster though. You'll have to let us know how it goes.

I installed the Liverpool Overwounds in my Tele Deluxe . They're perfect in my opinion. From blues to punk.

At first I didn't like the stock pickups in my Jagmaster, so I swapped out the bridge pickup, but the neck pickup really grew on me after a while.
That's the danger of buying a guitar without playing it first.
The neck on the Jagmaster is wonderful. I love the finish. Not quite gloss, not quite satin. Like a very light gloss.
What's the problem with the vibrato bar? My first order of business when I got mine was to put 2 extra springs on mine. I rarely use the bar, but when I do, I like it to fight back

Robbmonster, I too love the pups in my Jag. I even like the neck pickup, for the music I write and play. I have three springs in mine and play with 49-11[ wound 3rd] and she stays in tune reasonably well. I have noticed that some springs are a bit tighter than others. I have gone trough dozens getting the right tension for myself. Also, try tightening the spring claw screws.
In addition, I have the middle four trem plate screws backed out with only the two outer screws doing the majority of the work. This seems to help cut back on friction and allows the plate to come back into resting position easier. Good luck. M

Jake,if you're talking to me,those are not P90s in mine, they're HBs size.I had to slightly notch the corners with jewlers file..no biggy...As I posted in another thread,GFS sells a P90 that is HB size and should drop right in..

The soap bar is a different size and design..P90s can be had in different sizes and shapes..here's the site for P90s in HB size and shape..
http://www.guitarfetish.com/Humbucke...kups_c_26.html
You're stuck with that PG unless you make one yourself or have one custom made..
As to the pups that I installed being better than the originals nly slightly..But they look a lot better.IMO...

There's always a way to do anything that you want to do..Again it would mean a new PG..But the P90s are single coil that can be had in the HB style and size.Drop right in with minimum PG alteration. As a matter of fact the original pups can be made into single coil by rewiring, using just one coil in each pup..

This answer is a little belated, but the radius in 9.5". The scale is 24". I'm not sure what term would be used to describe the neck profile. It's not a baseball bat and it's not too thin. I find it to be the best neck of all my guitars, but that's so subjective, and not too helpful, I guess.

This is a followup on this thread. Those of you who have changed the pups on your Jagmaster, how has it worked out? I changed mine to GFS Surf 90's but I don't care for the sound. It tends toward bright thinness and has an ice pick overtone that is not pleasant. The original humbuckers were ok but were a tad dull and lifeless. I'm thinking of going with humbuckers again, but not the originals. Papa Joe, how did the GFS Nashville Vintage Filtertrons work in the Jag?

I don't know much about how a Filtertron would work out, but to answer your other questions, my mods have worked out very well.
My replacement brigdhe pickup is more rounded and balanced, and not as harsh as the stock one.
I wouldn't mind changing my middle pickup, however. The one I put in there is a neck pickup from a Squier 51, but I wouldn't mind having something with a bit more personality. Maybe a GFS lipstick or something like that...
