Duo sonic
New member, i'm currently thinking about getting the Duo sonic as a sort of beat up guitar. Yknow for those particular moments when you want to throw your guitar around. Was wondering what the popular opinion was on them?

I never feel like throwing my guitars around. I'd recommend the guitar for playing, and a nice ball for throwing that I'm sure would go much farther and will be a lot easier to catch if you have someone else involved in the festivities.

Duo Sonics are good . IMO I think the pickups suck though . Pick one up used and throw in some old Fender Strat pick ups or even GFS and play the heck out of it .

I thought of getting one but for the price I wanted a better bridge , better tunners , better pups, I guess just a better guitar. I dont put them in the same class as the other CVs.

in all fairness, they're cheaper than the others and theres nothing wrong with the tuners, they just have white plastic buttons instead of metal, like the originals, and the bridge is fine, just needs compensated saddles. i would agree about the pickups, which is why mine has a JB in the bridge position and no, not a JB jr.

I would study the "workings" of jeff beck and radiohead for "playing the life out" of a guitar. I don't mean the music, I mean what they do. e.g JB has guys who do all the parts replacing. e.g jeff beck kicks his guitars often or bashes them; anything fora new sound.
I say you get something inexpensive. If it's gonna be your "stage trasher" you need to be able to replace bits cheaply.
Think about getting something made of very hard tonewood so it'll take a beating, you don't need to grab a specific wood just grab something that feels like a brick shi*house.
wire it in a way you're happy with. get a hard scratchplate. get a synchronized bridge for the sturdiness. buy a spare neck for the future. don't be fussy, just keep on budget.
add bits of steel on bits maybe like on cowboy boots' tips or big luggage cases' corners.
if it's going to be "pete-townshended" then it needs to be tough, in your own opinion, and it needs to take any neck you can get your hands on. because the neck is always the thing that breaks when "wielding" the guitar.

Let me see if I got this straight. You went through the trouble of joining an online forum with the specific intention to find out if a $250 guitar was any good for "throwing around"? I would like to think that the same laws of physics would apply to any guitar on the market.
If what you're looking for is a good "knock around" guitar, buy a Squier Bullet Strat and give the remaining hundred bucks to charity. There are some poor unfortunate people in Haiti who just had there stuff thrown around for the second time this morning.

I love the looks of th Duo Sonic, sadly the examples I've played just don't live up to the looks, (like a lot of chicks I dated )
