My Jagmaster
Pick it up on e-bay for $114.Very nice guitar,,Had to add trem springs to tighten up the trem action..My only complaint is finding a proper case..

I bought mine wanting to buy humbucker shaped P-90's from Guitar Fetish.
I was going to drop in the P-90's and create a poor man's Jazzmaster.
I forgot that the pickup holes in the pickguard were sized for uncovered pickups. The Guitar Fetish P-90's have chrome covers on them. The pickups would not fit in the pickguard. I could have routed the pickup holes larger but I left it alone. I returned the Guitar Fetish pickups.
It's great just the way it is.

If I could pick one up for $114, I'd buy one in a heartbeat just to have one...

very pretty...
on the subject of a "poor man's jazzmaster"...
for a budget I'd change the vol. to a blend pot wired so the PUPs have individual vol. on the up and down PUPs selector settings[ when in the centre position you can then blend the pots as you wish]* then the tone to 1MEG and add an .047 Orange Drop Sprague Cap.
or instead of a 1MEG tone pot use a B500k switched pot and use it like 2 SPDT and coil tap the HBs. That way you can choose between having the circuit being HB/HB or SC/SC.

Which case is that at MF? There are a couple at $49. The only cases I have found locally that the Jagmaster will fit into are bass cases and they are gigantinormous.

Yes I think so too, You can make good deals buying second hand. Although the Vista series can be pretty expensive.
One thing that puzzles me however, is this:
As far as I can recall, the black and the sunburst have always been pretty much the same price.
But not anymore. (this is in Europe, I don't know about the US)
.

The two colours are still the same price here in Canada - about CAN $325 (US $300). I think the Canadian shops keep an eye on the American online prices at MF, Music123 and the others because they are losing business to them, even with the international shipping, duty, etc. Perhaps Europe is sufficiently far away they can set prices freely.
Interestingly (or rather, a drag), MF, Music123 and the others can't ship Fenders or Squiers directly to Canada because of some trade agreement/impediment. Probably an effort to protect the local sellers. I'm all for that, but I hope it doesn't result in higher prices just for Fenders north o' the border. I wanted to get the Squier FSR Tele...the red sparkly one. It was a limited release only available online as far as I could see. No Canadian dealer had them, but still I couldn't order it online due to that trade agreement. Grrr!

On the question about the case from MF,It's the stanard Strat/Tele case.$49.It just barely fits but you can make it work.Well at least it does for me.
I'll try to post a pic later.

how big are the cavities under the pickguard? Could you make a new pickguard and move the toggle switch somewhere else?
Would it be hard to install a Strat style input jack? (obviously some wood removal on that one.)

Nah, that's not mine, it's just a pic from the web.
If You tap with your finger or a pen or something on the picguard, You can hear where it sounds kind of hollow.
Here's my Jagmaster
cheers

I've been kickin' around some mod ideas. One thing that I dislike is the looks of the pickups.IMO uncovered humbuckers are unsightly. They sound OK,I just don't care for the looks..Don't know yet what I might replace them with.
Another thing I would like to do is have seperate tone controls for each pickup. And maybe a Strat style jack.Of course that means I would have to make a new pick guard. No problem there..Just thinkin'..

yeah I'd want a Strat jack and the toggle switch up top (LP style) but it's a really cool guitar, it's been growing on me lately.
(I'd have to make it seafoam green too, lol)
for some reason the jack being in the pickguard just seems......fragile.

I agree on the pickups, I wish they'd at least been black instead of white. I suppose there are pup-covers You could hide them with, but not without doing some work on the pickguard...
