Jagmaster GAS
It's already some months that i am affected by Jagmaster GAS, since I bought my new Squier CVC tele, I am more and more a Squier Fan, so the Jagmaster GAS increased. Two days ago in my favorite shop in town got a second hand Jagmaster from a guy that changed the pickups with two SD Slash and now he doesn't like it...
I tried it on a ****ting laney amp and clean was good but the crunch was very bassy and muddy... maybe was the amp..
the body has two dent so they sell it for 180 USD (1600 RMB)
I am considering to buy it or to exchange it with my acoustic guitar that I never play.... maybe a new squier is coming to live with me!!!
Ciao

That sounds like a great price for a Squier guitar in your area. If the clean sound is good then it's probably OK; the Slash pickups are for distortion and the amp gain control changes the overdrive anyway. It's possible the capacitor is too big and loses lots of treble, maybe a lesser capacitor value can brighten the tone.

Dont know what that is in Uk money, but Ive just picked up a black Jagmaster for £100, and its on its way as we speak.
Cured my GAS for an offset guitar.
I'll post pics when it arrives.

An acronym for Guitar Acquisition Syndrome. GAS is also a verb, adverb, noun, adjective... :-)

RIGHT ON!
The price sounds pretty sweet! Trading in your acoustic isn't a bad idea... as long as it doesn't bare any chance of regret but if it's got no anchor in your heart... :S
GET THAT JAG!
*drooling*
...maybe mod it a little, add some switches and different pots for Jaguar and Jazzmaster emulation... tiz possible even without visible modifications but what do I know...

Hi all,
I am thinking to put a p-rail on the neck, with switches to have the "p90ish" sound, the single coil Rail sound, the humb in series and the humb in parallel.
For the bridge i am considering a JB with 4 conductor and add switch for parallel and series bobbins.
The nice fact of the Jagmaster is that huge pickguard where there is space for millions switches.... This evening finish work I will pass to the shop and i will check if it possible to exchange the acoustic with the jagmaster... maybe I drop in 10 or 20 USD (here 100-200 RMB more or less). The most intriguing fact that is GASing me is the possibility to use it for mods.

Mine arrived yesterday.
Black with a touch of sparkle in the paint. Not seen many this colour. Serial number indicates a 2000 model.
Ollllllld strings!! They'll come off tonight.
Has some really nice grain on the headstock and the back of the neck.
Not sure what to do with it.
I have a high output Mighty Mite Mutherbucker kicking around, might throw that in the bridge position. Lock down the bridge, as I dont really like trems that much, though I'll get an arm for it and see if it works better than other strat trems I have used.
Or maybe a nice red torty or white pearl guard and a couple of HB sized P90s might take it another direction.........???

Shanghaitele, I have that same model, beauties huh? I have kept my completely stock. I may at some point change out the tuners but I am keeping everything else. I have read several comments about people changing out the pickups and trems. but my pups sound great and I don't do much dive bombing so my trem. stays in great tune. Enjoy it, she is a beauty. M.

wow! Jazzguar that is one beautiful jag. As far as your grounding issue goes, I think you're alright but I'm sure someone who knows better than me will answer your question

What a smashing result! The headstock is especially beautiful. How does it sound with those Jazzmaster pickups?
If you had to run a separate wire to the trem because the bridge didn't ground it right, it sounds like the contact at the bridge to the strings is electrically isolated in some way. What kind of bridge is that? Does it use Graphtech saddles? The trem is all-metal so it's a good grounding point. I'd drill a path from the trem chamber to the electronics cavity and run the grounding wire through that to the vol pot directly.
